LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Simone Biles hobbled off the floor during warm-ups after a sudden calf injury turned her body into a "ticking time bomb" during the team final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, casting doubt on her highly anticipated comeback.

With Team USA’s doctor closely following her, anxiety rippled through the audience as they feared the seven-time Olympic gold medalist might have to withdraw once again.

Yet, against all odds, Biles defied the pain of a mysterious calf injury, emerging victorious with gold medals in the team, all-around, and vault finals, plus a silver in the floor exercise.

Now, fans can finally uncover the full story behind her injury in the highly anticipated second part of Netflix’s docuseries, 'Simone Biles: Rising,' following the release of a new trailer on October 3.

'Simone Biles: Rising' trailer hints at gymnast's emotional struggles after Tokyo exit

In the trailer, a visibly distressed Simone Biles confides in her coach, saying, “My calf or something just pulled all the way,” right after leaving the mat. The tone shifts as viewers are treated to a glimpse of the star olympian receiving treatment just before stepping onto the competition floor.

A voiceover ominously questions, “Is this a case of deja vu?” - a nod to her abrupt exit during the Tokyo Games. Adding to the emotional weight of the trailer, former Olympic teammate Aly Raisman can be heard asking Biles after the competition, “How did you do it in so much pain?” To which Biles responds, “I couldn’t have people tell me I was a quitter again.”

Simone Biles reflects on age and physical strain as she defies odds in Paris

At age 27, Simone Biles acknowledges the toll her body has taken, remarking, “Since I’m older, my body is like a ticking time bomb.” In a sport where youth is often celebrated, she is now considered an elder stateswoman among gymnasts.

Since returning from the Paris Olympics on August 12, where she added four more medals to her collection, Biles remains America’s most decorated Olympic gymnast. Her Paris experience was a triumphant turnaround from the 2020 Tokyo Games, where she faced the debilitating "twisties" and had to withdraw from the team competition.
