LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The cause of Dana Carvey’s elder son’s death has been officially disclosed.

'Saturday Night Live' star Dana Carvey's son Dex Carvey was 32 when he lost his life in November 2023 and now, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office has shared that “Fentanyl, Ketamine, and cocaine toxicity" was behind it.

Also, the manner of death has been listed as “accident”.

Dana Carvey and his wife remember Dex as 'extremely talented' person

This came after the ‘SNL’ star and his devastated wife Paula Zwagerman issued a statement following their son Dex’s death.

In a November Instagram post, they wrote, “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose.”

They continued, “He was 32 years old. Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately."

“It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too.”

‘We will miss him forever’

Calling him a “beautiful person,” the parents added, “We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

Also, in November, Dana tweeted a few photos of Dex as one of the pictures showed them together and the caption read, “Dex and me working together. What a joy.”

Another single image of Dex showed him smiling as his 68-year-old comedian father noted, “F*** the tabloids. This is my boy.”

Several people commented below the photos with one person writing, “God bless Dex, you Dana, and your whole family for the loss of your talented son. My heart breaks for you all and I hope the joy he brought you will live on forever 😢💔🥰.”

Another person added, “I can't imagine your pain.  I have three adult children myself.  Take care of yourselves during this time.”

‘A parent's worst nightmare’

Meanwhile, now after the revelation of Dex’s cause of death, a Facebook user commented, “We got to see Dana's sons at least twice when they opened for their Dad doing comedy in San Diego. Seemed like a really nice guy. So sad that this happened. Sympathy to his loved ones.”

Another user wrote, “I am starting to wonder if Ketamine is now going to be a more popular drug of choice? It keeps coming up in the news, and Matthew Perry had this drug in his stomach.”

“A parent's worst nightmare,” the third one remarked.

“I hate fentanyl! Devil drug that kills! Prayers sent,” the fourth user stated.
