LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tim Robbins assisted present the Best Supporting Actor award on Sunday night, March 10, at the 96th Academy Awards, but not before he made a hilarious mistake.

The actor was honoring Oscars 2024 nominee Robert De Niro when he inadvertently called his performance in 'Killers of the Flower Moon' an Oscar-winning performance—before the prize had even been announced.

Tim Robbins praised Robert De Niro's performance in 'Killers of the Flower Moon'

Tim Robbins described De Niro's latest performance in 'Killers of the Flower Moon' as "Oscar-winning," saying, "His latest performance in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ delivers a different type of evil, not of a mobster or psychotic loner, but of a business man consumed by greed and his lust for power."

Subsequently, Robbins corrected himself, stating that De Niro's work was Oscar-worthy instead, but he did not hesitate to joke that the actor from 'Killers of the Flower Moon' 'should be winning' despite this, as reported by Huffpost.

The audience laughed at the mix-up, which made De Niro smile. However, Robbins' error was not predicted. The winner was Robert Downey Jr for his performance in 'Oppenheimer'.

Martin Scorsese's film 'Killers of the Flower Moon' was nominated for ten awards this year.

Being the first Native American to receive an Oscar nomination for acting, Lily Gladstone made history as Mollie Burkhart in the film based on the real Osage Nation members' strategic killings.

Gladstone received a Best Actress nomination. If she succeeds, she will be the first Native American to ever win an Oscar in a competitive field.

Another commentator who claimed to dislike De Niro wrote, "I'm so glad he didn't win!! I don't like him at all. Anyone who sticks with joe doesn't like our country."

The third commentator added, "Congratulations Robert De Niro, Tim Robbins thinks you’re a winner"
