Somara Theodore temporarily fills in for Ginger Zee as 'GMA' meteorologist heads to Canada
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The December 11 episode of 'Good Morning America' found meteorologist Ginger Zee missing in action, as Somara Theodore made her appearance in the weather section instead.
Theodore joined ABC News as a meteorologist early in 2023. Since then, she has mainly been covering the weekend weather on the show, according to The U.S Sun.
Host Robin Roberts announced the switch-up of the meteorologists after introducing the first main weather segment of the day about 20 minutes after the show began.
"Let’s go to Somara Theodore, who’s in for Ginger," she said at the beginning of the segment.
The arrangement is reported to be temporarily in place until the return of Zee to the show.
Why was Ginger Zee absent from 'GMA'?
The 42-year-old media personality is temporarily missing her spot on the show on account of being in Canada for a gig.
Zee had previously notified her followers of her upcoming absence when she shared a post showing off her manicured nails on social media on December 8.
"I’ll be on assignment next week to bring you a special story from Canada and we are hoping to see the northern lights! So, I’m willing them to us with my nail art🙌😂" she wrote in the caption.
