Cox attacks 'The Bible'

The 'Succession' star didn't mince words when he labeled the Bible as "one of the worst books ever."

When asked by host Rich Leigh if he believes religion impedes human progress, Cox responded unequivocally, “Oh considerably, yes. I think religion does hold us back because it's belief systems which are outside ourselves.”

The 77-year-old explained, “They're not dealing with who we are, we’re dealing with, "Oh if God says this and God does that, and you go, "Well what is God?" We’ve created that idea of God, and we’ve created it as a control issue, and it’s also a patriarchal issue, and it’s essentially patriarchal. We haven’t given enough scope to the matriarchy.”

Cox gives his opinion on Hamas-Israel conflict

Cox criticized religion, particularly the religious book, using the ongoing Hamas-Israel war as an example.

“It’s higher than killing somebody, and killing somebody in this needless pursuit of some kind of thing which doesn’t serve us at all,” he said.

“And the cruelest thing are these children that were slaughtered by Hamas and then the more children that way you know, it’s well to the thousands, probably we’ve gone on 5,000 kids now and the unborn life in these hospitals.”

Cox added, “I mean really, it’s unbelievable that we do this, even Hamas are going well, "It’s all going a bit too far now isn’t it?”

“I mean, people are so stupid, they are so stupid, and they cannot see the writing on the wall, you know.”

Cox, a self-described Socialist, criticized society for its stagnation, reported DailyMail.

"Unfortunately we are, we’re still sort of sprogs, you know we’re still those frogs we’re not grown-up, we haven’t grown up," he said during the interview.

“We still, we’re not even beyond the baby stage in our existence.”

Netizens react to Cox remarks on religion and humanity

The internet reacted to Brian Cox's take on religion, and humanity at large.

One person wrote, "Look at his stony face destroyed by ignorance of the Lord. Bow down now, repent, ask for forgiveness."

"Well, if Brian Cox said it, his must be the final word. Remind me who he is...." commented another.

"God gave him free will, just like all of us. Believe or not believe, it’s up to you. I choose to believe," a user felt.

A person said, "I agree with him about religion, the last superstition that has ruined countless lives and still rules the world."

One quipped, "At his age he will find out soon enough if there’s no God."

"Agreed, some people are indeed stupid. Especially those believing their own publicity teams," an online person supported Cox's view.

A user questioned, "As if there still would not be conflict, destruction, or pain without religion. Tell us all knowing, how would the world and humans coexist?"
