LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'One Tree Hill' star Sophia Bush has opened up about her tumultuous year that involved a divorce, a new relationship, and a personal transformation.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Bush shared how 2023 was a year that taught her many lessons, challenged her, and ultimately freed her.
Sophia Bush filed for divorce from Grant Hughes after one year of marriage
Bush and Hughes, who were friends for 10 years and bonded over their love of community service, tied the knot in July 2022.
However, their marriage did not last long, as they separated in June 2023 and filed for divorce in August. Bush cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, and both of them waived spousal support.
In her Instagram post, she wrote how 2023 was a year that “humbled me, broke me, built me, betrayed me, freed me, and showed me what it means to really be alive. No more playing small.”
Sophia Bush found love again with soccer star Ashlyn Harris
Shortly after her divorce, Bush started dating Ashlyn Harris, a professional soccer player who plays for the United States women’s national team and Orlando Pride.
Harris also went through a divorce in 2023, as she and her wife Ali Krieger, another soccer player, filed for separation in September. They had been married since December 2019 and had two children together, Sloane and Ocean.
"After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago,” the source told People back in October 2023.
“This is so recent, and they are both beginning new chapters," the source added.

She said she learned to put herself first, to listen to her inner voice, to let go of expectations, and to embrace honesty. She also said she reconnected with her body, her writing, and herself.
Besides, the year taught her to “put your own oxygen mask on first” and to “listen to myself and no one else.” "This year sent me inward. More than I’ve ever been. It took me out of relationship with many of you but put me back into relationship with myself.' she continued.
"Watching from the rear these past months has been a gift. It has been rest and reclamation," Sophia added.
