WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign blasted White House hopeful Nikki Haley after the first GOP primary victory in Washington DC, labeling her the "Queen of The Swamp," reported The Hill.

The former UN ambassador tasted her first victory of the 2024 election year on Sunday, March 3, at the federal district by securing 62.8% of the vote, while Trump stood at 33.3 %, as per Decision Desk HQ results.

It was her first primary victory against the former President after she consecutively failed to make any momentum against him, including her home state, South Carolina. Despite the losses, Haley pledged to continue the race through Super Tuesday on March 5 "as long as" her campaign remains "competitive."

Trump campaign press secretary mocks Nikki Haley's DC win

Trump campaign secretary Karoline Leavitt took to X to ridicule the former South Carolina Governor's victory in DC, dubbing the capital a "swamp."

"Tonight's results in Washington DC reaffirm the object of President Trump's campaign — he will drain the swamp and put America first," she wrote, adding, "While Nikki has been soundly rejected throughout the rest of America, she was just crowned Queen of the Swamp by the lobbyists and DC insiders that want to protect the failed status quo."

"The swamp has claimed their queen," Leavitt wrote.

"President Trump will fight for every American who is being let down by these very DC insiders and devastated by Joe Biden's failures."

Former President Trump also ridiculed his sole GOP opponent's victory through Truth Social, claiming he purposely stayed away from the federal district, which had only a few delegates and no upside.

Highlighting his hattrick wins in Idaho, Michigan, and Missouri, which he called the "complete destruction of a very weak opponent," Trump predicted his massive victory in Super Tuesday primaries.

The former South Carolina governor collected 19 GOP delegates with the win, which unfortunately could hardly impact the needed 1215 to secure the nomination. Trump, who has won all of the Republican primaries and caucuses except DC, currently has secured 247 delegates, according to CNN.

Furthermore, Haley's win at the capital does not make any likely changes to the former President's dominance as he closes in on nomination after the GOP caucus trifecta victory on March 2.

Internet mocks Trump's campaign

Trump's campaign's mockery of its opponent's win, however, backfired online.

Social media users took the opportunity to ridicule the GOP frontrunner and his campaign for being a "sore loser" and throwing tantrums like a child.

One user wrote, "Sore losers!!!!"

"As if anyone ever expects him not to be a sore loser…." another user remarked.

A third user mocked Trump, saying, "I guess he will drop out of the race now. Clearly, he doesn’t want to be King of the Swamp, right?"

"The tantrums he is throwing are priceless," a fourth response read.

Someone else remarked, "Typical 12 year old response."

One individual said, "He is a petulant little child that never grew up."

Another person quipped, "He's taking it well. We knew he would."
