Stephen Miller says God put Donald Trump in White House for America’s 250th birthday
WASHINGTON, DC: White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller marked Independence Day with a striking claim on Friday, July 3, saying the events of the past decade prove that "divine providence" placed President Donald Trump in office during America's 250th anniversary celebrations.
In a post on X, Miller argued that Trump's return to the White House was not merely political but part of a larger divine plan, adding another chapter to his long record of publicly praising the president.
It is impossible to review the events of the last decade and conclude that it is anything other than divine providence that Donald J. Trump is the President of the United States on the year of America 250, July 4th, 2026.

Stephen Miller says Trump was chosen by 'divine providence'
Miller shared the message as celebrations for America's 250th anniversary unfolded across the country.
"It is impossible to review the events of the last decade and conclude that it is anything other than divine providence that Donald J Trump is the President of the United States on the year of America 250, July 4th, 2026," he wrote.
The phrase "divine providence" refers to the belief that God actively guides events in the world and intervenes in human affairs.
By using those words, Miller suggested that Trump's presidency during the nation's milestone anniversary was part of a higher plan rather than simply the result of political events.
Post revives comparisons between Trump and religious figures
Miller's comments also renewed discussion about repeated attempts by some Trump allies to portray the president in unusually elevated religious terms.
The post drew attention because it appeared to place Trump's political journey alongside stories of biblical figures associated with God's intervention.
Following increasing statements critical of religion, including attacking Pope Leo today, President Donald Trump has now posted an AI rendered image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ on Truth Social. pic.twitter.com/Aq1Fimc93J

The comparison follows earlier moments in which Trump himself attracted attention over religious imagery.
Earlier this year, Trump faced criticism after sharing an AI-generated image that depicted him as Jesus healing a sick person.
He later said he believed the image simply showed him dressed as a doctor, despite it featuring long flowing robes, glowing light from his hands and angels in the background.
Miller's remarks also raise questions about the 2020 election
Miller has long maintained that Trump won the 2020 election.
However, some observers noted that his latest argument appears to create an unexpected contradiction.
If, as Miller claimed, God guided events over the last decade to ensure Trump would become president during America's 250th anniversary in 2026, that timeline would also include Trump's defeat in 2020 before his eventual return to office.
The post is also consistent with Miller's history of strongly praising the president.
In October 2025, he told Trump that the United States "was going to die" without him, emphasising the close political loyalty he has repeatedly expressed.
