DANBURY, CONNECTICUT: Steve Bannon has been called out online after a video showed him speaking with a priest before he went inside a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, on Monday, July 1.

He was reportedly sentenced to four months of jail term after he was convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress as he failed to give testimony and records to the House Select Committee investigating the 2021 Capitol riots.

Bannon, who worked as chief strategist of the White House under the Donald Trump administration, also delivered a speech as he reported to the federal correctional institution, as reported by Newsweek.

Steve Bannon says his enemies ‘are going to need the prayers’

The video showed the 70-year-old political strategist asking the priest if he wanted to say anything. The priest replied, "He agrees with his positions” and also added that he's from "St Ignatius Retreat House, 15 miles away. I'll get you whatever you need.”

The priest also said the "St Michael's Prayer".

But Bannon interrupted the priest, saying, “Father, don't pray for me, pray for our enemies. They're the ones that are going to need the prayers!”

Also before having the conversation with the priest, the media executive reportedly stated, “I am proud to go to prison. If this is what it takes to stand up to tyranny. If this is what it takes to stand up to the Garland corrupt, criminal DOJ.”

“If this is what it takes to stand up to Nancy Pelosi. If this is what it takes to stand up to Joe Biden, I'm proud to do it,” he added.

Netizens call Steve Bannon ‘fascist’

Meanwhile, people have commented online on Bannon’s statement as an individual below the Newsweek article wrote, “Trying to keep the demons from getting control during the coming DTs?”

“Stand up to tyranny?  He aided it,” another individual asserted.

Posting a GIF, the third one said, “Priest to Bannon:”

“Fascist just saying normal fascist things... nothing to see here, move along folks,” the fourth one wrote.

The fifth one remarked, “Think I’ll go puke now.”

A person X tweeted, “If he’s so proud to go to prison, why did he try to delay his prison sentence? He’s been delaying it ever since his sentencing. He could have avoided prison by just going to his depositing the J6 committee and at least plead the 5th. He’s no martyr.”

“If he was so proud he would have done his time like a man.. instead he cried live on his podcast and filed appeals to stop him from commencing his sentence! He’s weak and a pathetic excuse for a man… and yet he considers himself to be a proud Republican,” the second one added.
