Jon Jones arrested after allegedly assaulting drug testing agent

According to NBC News, a complaint was filed by Crystal Martinez, a worker tasked with collecting drug test samples. Martinez stated that she and a colleague visited Jon Jones' home in Albuquerque at 4 am on March 30 for an unplanned drug test on behalf of their employer, Drug-Free Sport International, which works with UFC.

Representatives from UFC, Drug-Free Sport International, and Jones' manager did not respond immediately to requests for comments on Saturday.

Jones addressed the incident in a statement on his Instagram, claiming "I want to address reports about me allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life and taking a phone, I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my home after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug. Although I was frustrated with the unprofessionalism and used profanity out of frustration it ended friendly and amicably, nothing threatening at all. I was actually celebrating a friend’s birthday party at my home, and I believe it’s perfectly normal to celebrate in the comfort of my own home."

Jones further claimed, "I must say, this particular tester behaved quite unprofessionally and even breached standard protocol along with HIPAA laws. Throughout my 20 years of being subjected to drug tests, I have never encountered such an incident with a DCO officer before."

Martinez reported that Jones was dissatisfied with the collection process and initially couldn't provide a urine sample, leading her to suggest a blood test. This suggestion angered him further, according to Martinez, who believed Jones might have been intoxicated, as reported by NBC News.

When faced with the possibility of UFC fines for not providing a urine sample, Jones left with his colleague Jerome Romero and returned with one. Martinez stated that Jones picked up her phone and started recording in which Jones was heard saying, "Here f**king Jerome and his girlfriend in my garage. Why you f**king people come so early? Do you know what happens to people who come to my house? They end up dead."

Martinez expressed fear for her safety and wanted to end the session but worried about UFC fines. She managed to retrieve her phone when Jones and Romero left to collect a sample. As mentioned by NBC News, Martinez told the police, "Mr. Jones was not very happy to see them there and his behavior at times was hostile."

Jones denied Martinez's allegations, accusing her of lying and insisting he never threatened her or her colleague.

NBC News further reports, that Jones was issued a summons to appear in court for allegations of assault and interfering with communications, which also served as his arrest. He wasn't taken into custody or booked.
