NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sunny Hostin, one of the most vocal supporters of the Democratic Party on 'The View', had a rare moment of self-reflection on the Monday, December 16, episode of the show, reported the Daily Mail.

According to the publication, Hostin claimed that her unwavering faith in her party may have led to her shutting off from the demands of the working class who rallied behind President-elect Donald Trump in November.

However, Hostin stood by her opinion that Republicans were not pro-working class, and it was the responsibility of the Democrats to correct their missteps with the demography.

Sunny Hostin's self-reflection on 'The View'

After refusing to critique the Democrats for over a month after they lost the general election, Sunny Hostin shared that she was "rethinking my thinking" as the working class has noticeably shifted their support towards Donald Trump.

"The Democratic Party has always been the party of the working class. If you look at all the policies, they're for the people," she stated while voicing her disappointment that "the messaging didn't resonate."

"We've missed the mark," she said, adding "I've missed it too."

Meanwhile, Hostin owned up her own blind spot, saying, "My mistake was in terms of realizing that there are so many Americans that still have that experience that I grew up with." She recalled the hardships faced by her growing up "in abject poverty, from the Bronx," revealing, "My parents had to decide whether they were going to feed me or whether or not we were gonna have heat."

After the personal admission, Hostin felt that the Democratic Party should work towards reaching out to similar demography, noting, "I think we need to make space in this tent for the people that are really gonna need it."

For all the shortcomings of the Democrats, Hostin continued to insist, "I don't think the Republican Party is the party of the working class." However, she admitted that Trump's rhetoric may have attracted some of them as a result of Democratic missteps.

Internet mocks Sunny Hostin for saying 'Democratic Party has always been the party of the working class'

Netizens reacting to Sunny Hostin's comments slammed her for a fresh view. The following examples demonstrate their takes.

"Planned switcheroo to try to hold on to viewership, but they are too far gone," wrote a person.

"The message doesn't resonate because they are empty promises. Their actions show they are most definitely not for the working class," stated another.

"Too late. They showed their true colors. They are who they are and no amount of backtracking will increase their viewership," quipped a third.

"The parties have completely flipped now. The GOP is the party of the working class, and the Dems are the party of elite snobs," jibed a fourth.

"Democrats would rather let Republicans win than run a candidate that could work for the people, I'm done with them forever," expressed a fifth.

"Priceless. They still don't get it and think it's the message and not their policies that are the problem," mocked yet another.
