NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The first edition of 'The View's Pooch Pageant saw co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sara Haines bringing their furry friends on the show to figure out who is the best among them. However, as it goes without saying, all dogs are the best dogs.

But that did not stop the competition from heating up to an extent where the pageant host had to jokingly call for security to keep the peace on stage.

The pageant was sponsored by pet nutrition brand Nulo, whose founder and CEO Michael Landa was present at the studio as a guest judge.

Bernie Behar, the actor Shih Tzu

The first competitor of the event walked out with Joy Behar, looking all dapper and groomed.

The six-year-old Shih Tzu was introduced as an attention-loving pupper who loves long walks.

When asked why Bernie should win, Behar said that the dog was the most handsome one that they would be witnessing at the show.

She also boasted of his acting talent, sharing a clip of Bernie reacting to her Halloween costume of Cruella de Vil.

"This dog is the Marlon Brando of Shih Tzus," claimed the proud owner.

The adorable Chacha Navarro Cardenas

The 4-year-old poodle of Ana Navarro Cardenas was as cute as they come.

Introduced as someone who loves treats, dancing, and Gloria Estefan, Chacha showed off his skills by standing on his two hind legs, and then smoothly jumping and settling into a handbag when called, winning over the heart of the audience.

The ever-excited Herbie Griffin

Next up was Alyssa Farah Griffin's 1-year-old Havanese, Herbie Griffin, who was said to love cuddling, politics, and reality television.

His human mom said that "he is a little guy with BDE - big dog energy," which the little guy amply demonstrated on stage.

Phineas and Harlow Pearl Hostin enchant audience

Sunny Hostin was the last to walk on stage with her two 2-year-old Newfoundlands, and pretty much stole the show straight out.

The two dogs were said to love digging, chickens, and mail carriers, but none of that mattered as the audience was awed by their calm and composed demeanor with which they shook their owner's hand.

Sunny was accompanied by her husband Dr Manny Hostin, and their godson Gilberto, to help take care of the gentle giants, and their adorable interactions were enough to turn the tide of the pageant in their favor.

Who won 'The View's Pooch Pageant?

Phineas and Harlow Pearl were announced the winner of the pageant, with the Hostins winning a gift hamper and a trophy.

The other participants claimed that the contest was rigged, but it was all in jest. Everyone, including the audience, received a $100 Nilo voucher at the end of the show.
