Nicholas Cage in talks to play role of Spider-Man Noir in live-action TV series

Nicholas Cage has sparked buzz among Spider-Man fans by revealing that he's in discussions with Sony Entertainment about playing Spider-Man Noir in an upcoming live-action series.

Cage originally portrayed Spider-Man Noir in the animated film 'Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse', which won an Academy Award. His portrayal quickly gained popularity and became a beloved character in the movie.

As per MovieWeb, during an interview at the SXSW Film and TV Festival, Cage spoke with Collider while promoting his upcoming horror movie 'Aracadian'. He expressed his fondness for the character and confirmed ongoing discussions about the role.

According to Collider, Cage stated, "Well, I can say that we have been talking. It's no secret that I love the character. I think the character provides another mash-up of sorts. I can combine my favorite golden age performances, i.e. Robinson, Cagney, Bogart, with a character that is, I guess, widely considered [to be] Stan Lee's masterpiece."

Cage further stated, "I see it as a kind of foray into a pop art mash-up of, sort of, a [Jungian] Lichtenstein, mash-up by way of Bogart and Cagney, but nothing's definitive yet. It's just conversation."

Before this, Cage had already appeared in the Marvel universe as the hot-headed 'Ghost Rider' in 2007.

Who is Spider-Man Noir?

Spider-Man Noir originates from a comic series that began in 2009, portraying Peter Parker in a 1930s setting with a twist. In this alternate timeline, Parker gains his spider abilities during the Great Depression era.

The comics blend traditional Spider-Man heroism with the gritty atmosphere of noir storytelling, offering a unique take on the character with its dark visuals and tone.

Although Cage didn't appear in the recent animated sequel 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse', fans speculate that he'll have a significant role in the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse', which is based on the cliffhanger from the previous film.

Internet says Nicholas Cage is going to awesome as 'Spider-Man Noir'

A social media user wrote, "That would be super cool. I love noir big time and I love spider man too. Would make for an awesome movie. They should start making hardcore gritty noir films again. Even ones with a surreal comic book edge like Sin City. I love that movie."

Another user wrote, "How I feel about Nicolas Cage coming back to Marvel…"

A user commented, "He's definitely gonna be awesome on this."

Another user commented, "Ah, the enigmatic Spider-Man Noir, a character ripe with depth and complexity. Nicolas Cages potential involvement is intriguing - his dedication to roles is unmatched. Exciting to see how his portrayal might bring new layers to this iconic figure."

A user stated, "The one movie I would actually be interested in seeing if Sony green lit it."
