HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN: Dean Cain, best known for portraying Clark Kent in the 1990s series ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,’ revealed this week that he has formally joined US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in support of President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement agenda.

Cain, 59, said he signed up to help “secure the safety of all Americans,” describing the move as a call to action amid what he believes is a critical moment for national security.

“For those who don’t know, I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it,” Dean Cain shared. “So I joined up.”

Donning an American Sniper T-shirt, Cain spoke directly to viewers about ICE’s role, saying, “Since President Trump took office, ICE has arrested hundreds of thousands of criminals, including terrorists, rapists, murderer, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, you name it — very dangerous people are who are no longer on the streets.”

He also highlighted the agency’s “great benefits and pay,” as well as a $50,000 signing bonus recently unveiled by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Cain emphasized that no college degree is necessary for the role, adding, “you can get to work right away.”

“So if you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from American’s streets,” said Cain, adding, “I like that. I voted for that. They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland and our families. So check into it and join today if it’s something that tickles your fancy because we can use you.”

Cain’s public alignment with ICE comes on the heels of the agency’s new national campaign, “Defend the Homeland,” a massive hiring push launched just last week by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The goal is to recruit 10,000 new agents as part of Trump’s immigration platform and expanded funding.

“Your country is calling you to serve at ICE,” Noem said in the July 29 announcement, adding, “This is a defining moment in our nation’s history. Your skills, your experiences, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland.”

ICE also announced a change to its age eligibility policy, stating, “We are ENDING the age cap for ICE law enforcement. Qualified candidates can now apply with no age limit. ”

Internet reacts after Dean Cain announces he joined ICE to ‘help save America’

While Dean Cain urged others to join ICE and “help save America,” the announcement was met with widespread skepticism online, particularly due to the agency’s strict upper age limit of 37 for recruits.

When questioned about this on X (formerly Twitter), a user stated, “Unfortunately, you can't join ICE if you're over 37 years of age - even if you're a fully licensed state law enforcement officer. As of now, they do not have waivers unless you were previously a federal law enforcement officer,” Cain responded, “Perhaps we’ll get that changed…”

The announcement also drew ridicule from many users online. Many users were quick to mock the announcement, with one commenter joking that “Superman himself would be disappointed in you Dean.”

One user sarcastically wrote, “I need to stay alive to see my daughter grow up.”

Criticism continued with one user writing, “I guess his film career is on the skids. ICE is destroying the image of trained police throughout America. How many ARRESTS? He says “you name it.” No.You should give facts not a blabbered list. Federal police are not allowed by US CONSTITUTION.”

Not all the responses were negative, some users shared supportive messages, praising Cain for his patriotism and efforts. One supporter applauded Cain for his unwavering dedication, writing, “Thank you for your commitment to this great country. You are a real Superman, We The People are very grateful to you.”

A user penned, “It’s win.. win.. when Superman is on ICE!”

Another user commented, “Thank you, Dean for all you’re doing to keep our country safe. You are amazing!!”
