LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dean Cain recently revealed in an interview that he was happy that "common sense prevailed" as Taylor Swift fans failed to impact the 2024 election results despite her endorsement for Kamala Harris.

The 'Superman' actor spoke with TMZ on Tuesday, November 12, and discussed the recently held 2023 presidential election, He said that celebrity endorsements do not actually affect the outcome.

Dean Cain told TMZ, "I think one of the things that also happens with celebrities is like familiarity breeds contempt. So the more we see about people's lives, online and social media, you realize they are just people. They are flawed people and they are not on that pedestal so much."

He continued, "I think social media has played a big part in breaking down who you like to listen. For example, if Denzel Washington supports a candidate with his values that I know him personally, I am gonna listen to him very carefully. If Megan Thee Stallion or Cardi B is telling me who to vote, then probably not."

He further added, "The loudest voices are the ones that are the most extreme. You get that extreme thing and everybody reacts to it and those voices shouldn't be amplified. We live in a time where sensationalism is a big deal."

Talking about Swifties, he said, "Maybe there will be a lot less celebs talking about things because the truth of the matter is they are no different than me or you or anybody else with all that following. You know the swifties didn't carry it. It just didn't happen. I am glad it didn't because, in my opinion, common sense prevailed."

He also added that celebrities should not be stopped from endorsing whoever they want to.

Dean Cain advises young actors to not talk about politics

During the interview, Dean Cain also advised young actors to not talk about politics. He said, "My advice for young actors would be and it's been this way as long as I remember, I say don't talk politics. Don't do it because you are going to alienate audiences."

He added, "In fact, the less you can tell about yourself the better it will be. My dad gave me the same advice which I didn't follow at all. I spoke about myself and my life and I have been an open book. I have been endorsing candidates for years but I am politically very active. I pay attention to the things and I think I am fair."

Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris did not help Democratic nominee

In September 2024, pop icon Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president right after the end of her presidential debate with Donald Trump, according to BBC.

She made her announcement in an Instagram post signed as "Childless Cat Lady", a reference to comments by Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance.

The Instagram post explained, "I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

However, her endorsement did not seem beneficial for the Democratic nominee as she ended up losing to Trump.

Eli Yokely, the US politics analyst for polling company Morning Star told the San Francisco Chronicle that voter registration spiked after Swift’s endorsement, despite the fact her fanbase — composed mostly of teenage girls and nostalgic millennials — was less likely than the typical American to be politically active.

However, as the presidential election results show, motivating voters and getting them to vote for a specific candidate are two different things, per the outlet.

Moreover, Trump also lashed out at Swift after her endorsement. He took to Truth Social in September and posted, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

Trump had earlier expressed admiration for Swift stating, "I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented."
