Fans predict win for Taylor Swift as Golden Globes announces Box Office achievement category nominations

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The nominees for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday, December 11, and the Swifties have already predicted an early unprecedented win for Taylor Swift as the pop icon's cultural phenomenon 'Eras Tour' was surprisingly one of the eight contenders named in the highly venerable list. 

Things, however, will not be so easy for Taylor Swift as many of her fans firmly believe since 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' dominated the nominations expectedly with nine nods for the former and eight for the latter. 'John Wick: Chapter 4' and 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1' also appear to be strong contenders alongside 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse', 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' and 'The Super Mario Bros Movie', all of which have also been named as the nominees in the category. 

Why was Taylor Swift's musical tour named in the category?

According to USA Today, movies must make $150 million globally and $100 million domestically in order to qualify for cinematic and box office achievement. Swift's Eras tour, which brought in $1.04 billion with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 tour dates, will be available to rent on Wednesday, December 13. She announced the streaming version will include extra tracks 'Wildest Dreams', 'Long Live', and 'The Archer.'

Besides, the Grammy winner also reportedly stepped her foot into the cinematic era as she signed a deal with Searchlight Pictures to direct a feature film that she penned. 

Swifties elated after Taylor Swift's nomination 

The 'You Belong With Me' singer's diehard fans are so confident with the outcome that one questioned, "Sorry, but did you just create this award so you could give Taylor Swift something?" Another echoed the same by writing, "Did they create an award just for Taylor Swift?" 

"TAYLOR SWIFT THE ERAS TOUR FILME DESERVED", tweeted one while another opined, "The power of Taylor Swift to have a concert film be a GG Nominee! All these movies were great though, all deserve to win :)" 

"I think Taylor Swift is going to steal this one, have y’all seen how much the concert movie made in the box office? We know about Barbinheimer, but she kicked ass in theaters and scared movie studios to the point they had to move some movies back to avoid her. That’s queen shit", one voiced. 

However, there were a few as well who were not impressed to see the nominations. One disappointed user tweeted, "Taylor’s concert film and John Wick isn’t even in the top 10 box office gross of the year bffr".

It was further backed by another tweet, "Most unserious category ever invented. You wanna give an Award for Box Office achievement but if we're talking about box office then the Little Mermaid, Sound of Freedom and Ant Man should have been nominated instead of Mission Impossible and Taylor's movie..."  

"HAHAHAHA what an STUPID CATEGORY. Instead of recognizing stunts, voice acting, cinematography, ensemble cast or documentaries you create this “box office archivement” just to congratulate blockbusters? Hahaha so lame", penned one.
