PARIS, FRANCE: Katie Ledecky fans were excited for the swimmer despite her failure to win the women’s 400-meter freestyle.

On Saturday, July 27, Australia’s Ariarne Titmus defended her gold from Tokyo in 2021, while Ledecky earned bronze adding another medal to her tally of 11th overall Olympics medal.

What time did Katie Ledecky finish the race? 

Summer McIntosh bagged silver at 3:58.37, while Ariarne Titmus and Katie Ledecky finished with 3:57.49 and 4:00.86, respectively.

The Australian swimmer presently holds the world record with 3:55.38, which she recorded in 2023, reported the New York Post.

Ledecky won the women’s 400-meter freestyle gold in Brazil in 2016, but lost to Titmus in Tokyo and won Silver.

Fans support Katie Ledecky despite missing out on Olympic gold 

Netizens cheered for Katie Ledecky despite coming short of winning the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, on Saturday, July 27. A few felt other swimmers had an advantage over her due to her age. 

One admired Ledecky's valiant effort, "Amazing and congratulations to Katie Ledecky. A true champion."

"How did she fall short when she still got a medal? She still holds the record for the most medals in that event!" another individual played down her loss. 

A user pointed out, "These swimmers don't understand that your body wears down after 25....your not the same as a 17 year old."
