CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Taylor Swift's fans, better known as Swifties, have begun speculating over social media about the pop star's chances of dropping in at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, amidst a break from her ongoing Eras tour.

The DNC will take place between August 19 and 22, where incumbent President Joe Biden is to hand over the baton for the 2024 general election to his Vice President and Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.

Swift is in London at present and is scheduled to perform at the Wembley Stadium till August 20, when she goes on a break. Her next scheduled performance is in Toronto, Canada, in the middle of November.

Fans were quick to spot the overlap between the free days of the pop star and the DNC, especially as Harris was to address the convention on Thursday, August 22. While Swift had endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris back in 2020, she has yet to come out publicly in support of the Democratic candidate this time around.

The tentative programme of the DNC

According to the Chicago Tribune, the DNC will run from Monday to Thursday at two main venues, the United Center and McCormick Place. It is being organized under the careful observation of Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov JB Pritzker, and an estimated 50,000 people are expected to show up for the event.

The complete list of speakers is yet to be announced. However, President Joe Biden is expected to give the opening address, followed by Hillary Clinton on Monday. Former president Barack Obama is to highlight the events on Tuesday. The following day, former president Bill Clinton and VP candidate Tim Walz would take the stage, and the convention would wrap with Vice President Kamala Harris being officially recognized as the party nominee on Thursday.

Speculations over Taylor Swift's appearance

Noting the gap in Taylor Swift's tour schedule, the internet is running rife with rumors about the singer performing at the DNC, and even introducing Kamala Harris on stage on the closing day.

"So Taylor Swift has the 20-22 off from her tour hmm will she be making an appearance at the DNC for Kamala Harris?" pondered a person on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

"Supposedly, the DNC offered Taylor Swift $50 million to perform at the DNC and introduce Kamala Harris," conjectured another.

"Ok, hear me out on this one #BlueCrew. 📢 Taylor Swift's European leg of her Eras Tour finishes in London on Monday. We will be monitoring to see where she flies next!" shared another fan, with the hashtag, "#SwiftiesForKamala"

"Does anyone think that maybe @taylorswift13 will show up at the DNC? She’ll be home from touring just in time. Can you imagine when she walks onto that stage??? I wonder if the campaign has reached out to her," wondered another.

"Any leads on who the surprise cameos are going to be at the DNC? Smart money for me is Taylor Swift," tweeted another.

"Has anyone leaked details yet on what #TaylorSwift will be wearing when she appears on stage to sing the National Anthem on the final day of the #DNC? #SwiftiesForKamala #VoteBlueDownBallot" speculated one user.

"@taylorswift13 has her last show on Tuesday, August 20th, for this leg of the #ErasTour. The @DemConvention has a big night planned on Wednesday and Thursday. Please make it happen. @swiftalert_13 @Swifties4Kamala #taylornation #TaylorSwift #DNC2024 @DNC" echoed yet another.
