LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gary Estes, the Texas man who spent $4,000 to smash a guitar claimed to be signed by Taylor Swift, has ignited a heated debate online by suggesting that the pop superstar might not have signed the instrument. This claim has led to widespread discussions on social media regarding the authenticity of the guitar's signature.

Estes first gained attention after purchasing the guitar at the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner, a charity event supporting agricultural initiatives and educating local youth. Shortly after his purchase, he was seen smashing the guitar with a hammer handed to him by an auction worker, adding another twist to the story. He then listed the destroyed guitar for sale on eBay.

Gary Estes asserts that Taylor Swift did not sign the instrument, even though it features her autograph and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Gary appeared on 'TMZ Live' on Wednesday, October 2, to address the ongoing debate about the viral incident: was the guitar genuinely signed by Taylor Swift? According to Gary, Taylor did not sign the guitar itself; instead, she signed a different piece of memorabilia that was attached to it.

As previously reported, a source close to Taylor’s merchandise company confirmed that she did not sign the guitar. However, the nonprofit that auctioned the guitar for charity claimed it was signed and provided Gary with a certificate of authenticity. Based on Estes’ comments, it appears that everyone involved has a valid perspective.

He further explained that his action was intended as a joke, fueled by audience encouragement. Notably, his hammer swing did not damage Taylor’s signature. Estes has now listed the guitar on eBay, with proceeds from the sale also going to charity. The current bid is at $4,400.

Additionally, Gary has a message for Taylor: he’s willing to deliver the guitar to her if she’s interested in purchasing it to support a charitable cause in Texas.
