Taylor Swift kicks off birthday celebrations with friends in NYC, skips Time gala despite Person of the Year honor

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Pop sensation Taylor Swift chose to ring in her birthday celebrations a day early with close friends, including Selena Gomez and actor Miles Teller, in New York City, opting to skip the Time magazine's Person of the Year gala where she was to be honored.

The 34-year-old singer, who graces the cover of the magazine's Person of the Year issue, made a stylish appearance in a chic leather trench coat at the exclusive Zero Bond club, per Daily Mail. 

Swift, who reportedly maintains a penthouse in the city, had arrived earlier in the day from Kansas City, Missouri, where she had been spending time with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Taylor's unexpected absence from the Time gala came as a surprise, given that she was believed to have returned to New York City specifically for the event on Tuesday.

However, the chart-topping artist, who celebrated her 34th birthday on Wednesday, December 13, has always prioritized her close-knit circle of friends, suggesting that she opted for a cozy gathering with Gomez and their companions over the prestigious occasion.

The party, except Gomez, was initially seen exiting a black luxury SUV as they approached the club. According to Daily Mail, Keleigh was at the forefront, with Taylor closely trailing behind.

Swift was reportedly spotted in a chic black ensemble, accentuated with gold-chain detailed platform loafer boots.

Her hair was styled in a casual updo, complemented by her iconic red lipstick.

She was seen leaving Zero Bond, hand-in-hand with her close friend Gomez, both sporting radiant smiles.

Gomez, who recently made her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco public, was dressed in a sleek all-black outfit for the night, per Page Six.

The 'Good For You' vocalist reportedly donned a long black wool coat, sheer black tights, and black platform boots. Her look was completed with black hot pants and a designer belt.

Swift's presence at Zero Bond was unexpected as she was due to be honored at Time Magazine's Person of the Year gala that same evening.

Instead, she reportedly chose to enjoy a meal with her friends, bypassing the Plaza Hotel event.

As for Swift's birthday plans on Wednesday, it's uncertain, but she may return to Kansas City to celebrate with her boyfriend.

Sources close to the NFL star suggest he's preparing an extravagant birthday bash for Swift, with insiders stating that "money is no object" for the anticipated celebration.
