A 19-year-old Austrian, who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, confessed to planning a suicide attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, aiming to kill a large crowd.
Arrested with three others, the suspect intended to use explosives, knives, and potentially drive a car into the crowd.

Swift's three sold-out shows at Ernst Happel Stadium, expected to host over 195,000 attendees, were canceled. Authorities discovered chemicals and technical devices at his home, indicating concrete preparations.
The suspect had stolen chemicals from his former workplace, a metal processing company in Ternitz, and had posted an online video confessing to the plot.

Austrian security officials seized weapons from his home and confirmed his intent to kill himself and a large number of people at the concert.
Public security chief Franz Ruf and the head of Austria's Directorate for Protection of the State and Intelligence, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, confirmed the details during a news conference, revealing that the teen had recently quit his job and informed others of his "big plans."

Malden native responds to Vienna Show cancellations
Brian Larson, a Taylor Swift fan from Malden, Massachusetts, traveled thousands of miles to see her in Europe, but his plans were upended by a thwarted terrorist plot.
"I think Taylor Nation, obviously, puts safety first. Puts fans first, which is a top priority," explained Brian Larson.
"Were we sad? Yes. I'm even sadder to see folks just around the hotel who are younger kind of wearing their friendship bracelets and you know, go home."
On the eve of Swift's concerts in Vienna, Austrian authorities arrested three men, including one who confessed to planning an attack with knives and explosives.
This led to the cancellation of Swift's three sold-out shows at the Ernst Happel Stadium.
The situation left many fans, including Larson, disappointed but appreciative of the focus on safety.
Swift's team announced the cancellation via Instagram, citing government confirmation of the threat, and assured fans that all tickets would be refunded.
US Ambassador to Austria Victoria Kennedy praised the decision, emphasizing that safety comes first. Swift has not yet commented on the incident.
