Entertainment producer Michael Fuir once banned Taylor Swift from performing at the US Open, a move that Fuir later called the worst decision of his life. Swift has become a global phenomenon over the past ten years, making her perhaps the biggest pop performer in the world. Swift was a stranger when she sang the national anthem at the US Open in 2001 and 2002, before becoming well-known and wealthy. She was originally scheduled to return to Flushing Meadows in 2003 but Fuir stopped her from singing the national anthem.

Speaking with Andy Roddick on the 'Served' podcast, Fuir revealed that Swift's rejection was a result of concerns that her country vibe would not please the New York audience. "Her father asked us if we’d put her on Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, and we said: 'She’s just taking off, she’s really country, we don’t think that would play in New York'. I do not share this publicly very often. Worst decision I ever made," Fuir said.

There have been questions raised by Travis Kelce's performance in his second NFL season while dating Taylor Swift. It's among his slowest career starts. Moreover, Kelce has been under much greater scrutiny due to his poor start to the season compared to most veteran tight ends with lesser early-season output. Somehow, this week's negative conversation about Kelce has been fueled by his relationship with Swift.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the disparaging remarks about Kelce on Wednesday, September 25, by saying, "I know people are saying that he's old or that he has distractions, but defenses don't think that. Trav is fine. He just keeps being Trav. He works his tail off. He hasn't lost a step. He's not distracted."

The NFL star talked about his sluggish start with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week following the viral release of a clip showing him looking dejected on the sidelines during their most recent game against the Atlanta Falcons. Travis has had some of his worst performances through the first three games of the season with criticism circulating on the internet that his relationship with Taylor Swift has "put his mind off the game," However, Travis dismissed speculation that Swift was affecting his game, saying, "It's football, baby!" to his brother Jason Kelce on the 'New Heights' podcast.

Travis said, "We’re finding ways to win games, but we’re not playing our best football. Everybody can clean it up. I think everyone saw my drop in the fourth quarter with that crucial third down." The tight end said that he should be concentrating more on "making the play in big time moments" and that he was "trying to do too much before putting the ball away." Travis stated that as the Chiefs prepare to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 29, they are "tweaking their game in the right direction" and becoming "better."

Chef and cookbook author Ina Garten recently revealed during an episode of 'WSJ Magazine’s The One' series that she received an invitation from Taylor Swift for her first beer pong game and soccer legend Abby Wambach coached her. Garten remembered that Swift had asked all of the crew to a party after a show. "After the show, [Taylor] invited us to go to a party that she gave for all of the crew," she recounted.

Garten admitted she had never participated in the drinking game. She cried, "No!" in response to the question of whether she was excellent, indicating that she hadn't tried since Swift's party. While it was their first time playing beer pong, Garten and Swift had a long-standing connection. During an October 2022 visit on Today, Garten said to Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, "The first time I saw her was here [on the Today show]."

New poll indicates Taylor Swift's endorsement hasn't affected Kamala Harris' campaign

Taylor Swift declared on Instagram that she was supporting the vice president Kamala Harris after the first debate between Harris and former president Donald Trump. Although Swift's prominent support for Harris outraged the former US President and his allies, such as Elon Musk, a recent survey suggested that the pop singer's endorsement of the Democratic candidate might not have had the anticipated effect on her campaign.

Quinnipiac University conducted the survey from September 19 to 22, and the results show that 76% of likely voters do not find Swift's endorsement of Harris to have an impact on their enthusiasm for the presidential nominee. Only 13% of respondents respond they are less enthusiastic, and 9% say it has no effect at all.
