Taylor Swift opens up about her relationship with Travis Kelce, says they're 'just proud of each other'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift has finally spoken about her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce in a rare interview for TIME magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year cover story.
The singer confirmed that they have been dating since July 2023 and that they are not bothered by the public attention, reports Billboard.
Taylor Swift says 'we’re just proud of each other'
Swift told the publication in her rare admission about her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end, saying, “We’re just proud of each other."
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care, the 'All too Well' singer said.
Swift added, “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
The podcast that started the Taylor Swift - Travis Kelce relationship
The singer revealed how their romance began after Kelce “adorably” mentioned her on his podcast 'New Heights' in July 2023.
Kelce confessed that he had made a friendship bracelet for Swift and was disappointed that he didn’t get to meet her at her Eras Tour show in Kansas City where he plays for the Chiefs.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell," she said.
The 'Everything Has Changed' singer said, "We started hanging out right after that," adding “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple."
"I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” she continued.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: The camera-friendly pair
The couple has become a staple of the NFL’s coverage with cameras frequently zooming in on Swift cheering on Kelce from the family skybox, along with his mom and his teammate Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.
Swift said she has no idea how the camera operators find her and that she doesn’t mind being shown on the broadcast.
“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” she said.
“I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads… Football is awesome, it turns out… I’ve been missing out my whole life," she added.
