What led to the controversial 2016 phone call between Kanye West and Taylor Swift?
Kardashian posted an edited footage of the conversation on social media in 2016, suggesting that Swift approved West's controversial lyrics, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous."
However, the Grammy Winner consistently refuted the claim as she stated she had never been shared the entire song before its release, according to Daily Mail.
Four years later, a release of the entire phone call proved Swift's claims to be true as it showed the leak of the original conversation had been edited down.
Taylor Swift says Kim Kardashian put out the call 'to say to everyone that I was a liar'
During her interview with TIME, Swift reflected on the negative impact the controversial phone call had on her life. "You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," she said.

"That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard," the songwriter explained.
At the time, Swift believed the controversy marked the end of her career in the music industry.

"Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me," she added.
Defending her actions and expressing embarrassment, Kardashian took to social media in 2020 during the time of the original conversations leak in 2020 to speak about the issue.
"@taylorswift13 has chosen to reignite an old exchange [...] I didn't feel the need to comment a few days ago, and I'm actually really embarrassed and mortified to be doing it right now, but because she continues to speak on it, I feel I'm left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying," read Kardashian's tweet in part.
