LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift’s friend and producer Jack Antonoff is accused of throwing shade at Billie Eilish in a recent interview.

During a recent interview with Today, Antonoff made an unsavory comment that did not sit well with the two-time Oscar winner’s fans who were left agitated at the supposed insinuation.

Given the Bleachers frontman’s friendship with Swift, many fans thought that Antonoff was just adding another layer to the alleged Eilish-Swift feud.

Jack Antonoff opens up about his songwriting process

The 40-year-old music producer was recently interviewed by Today on his son-writing process.

Antonoff replied that instead of writing about “one’s lunch order,” he prefers to write songs about those aspects that “impact(s) him emotionally," per Daily Mail.

He explained his song-writing process, saying, “It’s hard to write unless you’re really compelled. And sometimes what compels you is way more serious things.”

“I never feel like... You don’t hear a lot of great songs about like, one’s lunch order. So the things you don’t really understand and cause you pain are usually things worth writing about,” added Antonoff.

While his comment seemed a fine discourse about his creative process initially, the ‘Barbie’ singer’s fans thought that Antonoff threw a subtle shade at Eilish as she recently released her single ‘Lunch’ in her ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ released in May.

The song, which is lauded as a lesbian anthem, is, nevertheless, not about a simple lunch order but about the queer community.

However, Antonoff’s controversial comments made noise as they came just a few months after the fans thought the two powerhouse singers were locked in a feud.

Though they previously praised each other, in recent months, there is a rumor of bad blood between the two singers after Eilish called it “psychotic” to do shows that last for more than three hours

Soon, in an interview, she called it wasteful to release multiple vinyl records by several artists.

While she didn’t name anyone specifically, Swifties thought they were subtle shade on the ‘thanK you, aIMee’ singer as her Eras Tour show is more than three hours long. Swift is also known to release multiple editions to boost sales of her albums.

In fact, she also released three special editions of her new ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album within a day of Eilish’s album release.

This made many fans think that Swift was trying to ‘sabotage’ the younger artist to claim the No 1 spot.

In the light of their past history, Antonoff’s statement thus rang the warning bell for another war cry for the fans.

Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish's fans face-off against each other

The internet was left warring after Antonoff's interview went viral. The Swifties and the Eyelashes (that's what Eilish's fans call themselves) shade each other while vouching for their favorite pop star.

One of the social media users said, "Jack antonoff’s grown 40 year old self shading billie? weirdo."

A Swiftie, however, defended the producer, saying, "Jack antonoff is from new jersey. if he wanted to shade someone he’d do it straight up. that man was genuinely just talking about a turkey sandwich or something. y’all need to relax."

"“He isn’t shading billie” out of all things he could’ve said, he mentioned the word lunch specifically after billie released a song of the same title? yeah okay…!" sarcastically said another fan.

A Swiftie, however, said, "I hate to break it to you, but Billie being a 22 your old means she’s a grown adult capable of understanding the ramifications of her actions."

"OFC Taylor swift sent her friends to bully Billie too…. They did the same with Ariana," said another social media user.

Someone else said, "I genuinely think this had nothing to do with billie eilish."

"He is jealous that finneas is a way better producer than he’ll ever be," said another troll referring to Eilish's brother and producer Finneas.

Someone else, however, supported Antonoff, saying, "He’s just returning the energy..like y’all haven’t seen billies team shade Taylor."

"How is this shading? just because he mentioned lunch doesn't mean it's automatically shading billie? and LUNCH is not even about lunch order," said someone else.

Another netizen added, "He just made the most mid boring ass album of the year while finneas put out his best production work so far, of course he’s being petty on live television."
