WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump's social media account reignited its long-running feud with Taylor Swift on Saturday, August 8, this time by turning the singer’s own music into the punchline.

Team Trump used several Swift songs in TikTok posts featuring the president, including 'Red' and 'August', while taking pointed shots at the pop star.

But some of the posts later appeared without their original audio, adding a new twist to the online spat.

Trump team turns Taylor Swift songs into jokes

One of the more recent posts featured 'Red', the title track from Swift’s 2012 album, with Trump's face placed over Swift's on the cover art, styled to resemble the original record.

The graphic, posted on Wednesday, also presented a mock track list under the name 'Red (Trump’s Version)'.

The post included a direct political jab at Swift: "Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party?"

It followed another Team Trump video that showed Trump and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks, accompanied by Swift’s 2020 song 'August'.

The video carried the message: “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”

Team Trump appeared to lean into the joke, adding: “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!”

The audio disappeared from the post on Friday, August 7, with TikTok displaying a notice indicating the sound was unavailable.

The same issue appears to have affected other Team Trump videos featuring Swift’s music, including posts using 'Father Figure' and 'Opalite', two tracks from her 2025 album 'The Life of a Showgirl'.

It is not clear from the posts alone whether the removals resulted from direct action by Swift or her representatives, or from TikTok’s music licensing rules.

Trump and Taylor Swift have history

The social media jabs are the latest installment in an unusually public political clash between Trump and Swift.

Swift endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, putting her squarely on the opposite side of the race from Trump.

The president has repeatedly commented on the singer over the years, sometimes positively but often dismissively.

In 2024, days after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris, Trump wrote on Truth Social: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

He returned to the subject in 2025, writing: “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”

Donald Trump also reacted to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement .during a Cabinet meeting, this time offering a measured response when asked for his reaction.

“I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person,” Trump said, adding that he wished the couple “a lot of luck.”
