Teddi Mellencamp’s estranged husband cites prenup in divorce filing

According to In Touch, in his divorce filing, Edwin Arroyave, CEO of Skyline Security Management, requested joint legal and physical custody of their three children, Slate, Cruz, and Dove.

He also mentioned the existence of a prenuptial agreement that he asked to be enforced, as it details the terms of spousal support and property division, as reported first by TMZ.

“Pursuant to the parties’ Premarital Agreement, all assets, income from all sources, and obligations of each party are his/her separate property, except as specifically set forth therein,” the court documents state.

The prenup's enforcement could shape the financial outcome of their divorce significantly. Arroyave's response also includes a request for joint responsibility over attorney fees and costs.

Differences between their filings include custody arrangements: Mellencamp requested primary legal and physical custody of their children, with “reasonable and frequent” visitation for Arroyave.

She explained, “After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce."

"My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”

She added, “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

Teddi Mellencamp's awkward first meeting with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave

Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave's relationship began in 2009 after a chance meeting in a Hollywood nightclub.

Reminiscing about their first night together, Mellencamp reportedly shared with Yahoo! Lifestyle, “I was tricked a little bit because when I first saw Arroyave, he had a beanie cap on...when I saw him the next morning, the beanie was off and there was a ponytail hanging out the back.”

The couple wed in July 2011 in Indiana but faced challenges, especially after Teddi joined 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' in 2017.

Reflecting on that period during a March 2023 episode of her 'Two Ts in a Pod' podcast, Teddi recalled, “When we first started, I remember my first day honestly it was like ‘F**k, at what point do I tell everybody that I’m getting a divorce?’...for us, it was really about a power struggle.”

This power struggle impacted their relationship, with Mellencamp describing a shift in their dynamic when she faced challenges conceiving and Arroyave took charge of their finances.

She explained, “We were always kind of equals when we were together...Then I couldn’t get pregnant naturally, I did all these IVFs. Then, all of a sudden, he was in charge of our finances...Then I just started hating him.”
