Terry Crews reveals heartbreak over wife’s miscarriages after emotional 'AGT' performance strikes a chord
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Terry Crews, beloved host of 'America's Got Talent', recently revealed a deeply personal side of his life, sharing the heartbreaking experience of multiple miscarriages he and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, have endured.
While Terry is often seen bringing joy and energy to the stage, his emotional vulnerability was brought to the surface during a recent semi-final episode of 'AGT', where a drone performance by Sky Elements resonated powerfully with his own grief.
Terry Crews reflects on personal loss after three miscarriages
"Me and my wife, we know what it's like to lose a child," Crews candidly shared with People magazine.
The raw, visual representation of loss by Sky Elements struck a personal chord as he went on to reveal, "We've had three miscarriages. It's one of those things where it was so meaningful and special because the dedication is just, it's a way to process these things.”
The emotional weight of the performance didn’t just affect Terry but seemed to elevate the entire show to a deeper, more heartfelt level.
Reflecting on the importance of balancing light and heavy moments in entertainment, he said, “And how he brought that up, I was like, 'Wow.' I think the show needed it... This is the perfect America's Got Talent show today."
Crews also highlighted the emotional range that made the episode stand out. "We balanced out everything. We had the laughs, we had the dedications, we had the fun, we had the dancing. It was just all over the place, and it was perfect."

As Terry continued to process his personal grief, he credited his close bond with Rebecca as a source of healing.
"I just talk to my wife. We talk it out. We have really, really nice long, deep conversations. Turn the TV off, turn the phone off, and let's just talk it through," he emphasized.
Crews and Rebecca, 58, have been married for 35 years since 1989 and share five children: Naomi, 37, Azriel, 33, Tera, 26, Wynfrey, 21, and Isaiah, 19.
Terry Crews opens up about using music to cope with miscarriage
In addition to conversation, music has played a vital role in helping Crews cope with his emotions.
"One thing I do is music. I sit in a room and listen to music and it helps me process... all the things I'm feeling. And it's amazing what that does... you turn around an hour later, you're like, 'Wow, I can handle anything.'"
Crews' vulnerability extends beyond his experience with miscarriage.
In an emotional revelation during an interview on Dax Shepard’s 'The Armchair Expert' podcast, he spoke about his past struggles with addiction, which once threatened to destroy his marriage.
"My wife man, I tell her: 'How did you put up with me?'... I was addicted to pornography. It was a secret, I would die before anybody knew... I would lie straight out and that also started guilt. So I was walking around a human pile of guilt."

He shared how this guilt eroded trust in his marriage and created distance in his family life. "My wife would go: 'Where were you?' And I would go: 'What do you mean where was I? Why are you always checking where I am?'... I'd start an argument so she wouldn't ask more questions. Poor woman... It was horrible."
His anger, born from guilt and unresolved emotions, even affected his relationship with his children. "My kids, I would be angry with them for getting in the way," Terry admitted.
Crews has been hosting 'America’s Got Talent' since 2019, bringing his energy and charm to the show. He first rose to fame with his memorable role as Lieutenant Terry Jeffords in the hit comedy 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' where he starred alongside Andy Samberg.
