Teyana Taylor accuses Iman Shumpert of ‘smoking marijuana’ around their children and putting them at risk

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Teyana Taylor has reportedly accused her former husband Iman Shumpert of being careless when handling their daughters.

She also alleged that the ex-basketball player “smokes marijuana” around their minor children — Junie and Rue — and has a “reckless disregard for the safety and well-being” of them, RadarOnline reported.

Taylor and the 33-year-old athlete got married in 2016. But in January 2023, the actress requested a court for divorce, alleging Shumpert treated her “cruelly and [displayed] extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”

She also pled for the primary custody of their girls as she stated, “[Shumpert] asks for significant time with the parties’ minor children, but then leaves them with his parents or others for a majority of the time requested.”

The ‘Honey: Rise Up and Dance’ star also mentioned in her filing, “[Shumpert’s] interest in the parties’ daughter is more like his chance for photo opportunities as opposed to [Shumpert] providing true parenting and care for the girls."

“[Taylor] further shows the Court that when [Shumpert] gets angry, he is irresponsible with the girls.”

Besides, she also reportedly blamed Shumpert for shifting “into one of the parties’ fully – renovated, turnkey homes while leaving [Teyana] and the parties’ minor children in the parties’ primary residence that has been under construction for the past three (3) years because [Iman] has failed to pay for his portion of the agreed upon renovations.”

Her lawyer alleged, “The parties had an agreement for [Teyana] to pay for a majority of the renovations including the bedrooms and five (5) bathrooms, which have been paid for and completed. [Iman] had only two (2) areas of the home to renovate, neither of which is paid for or complete.”

Shumpert, however, dismissed her accusations and agreed to pay child support but no spousal support.

Now in her new petition, Taylor has noted, “By way of further response, [Taylor] states that [Shumpert’s] adulterous and illegal conduct is publicized on numerous news outlets and in Court documents.”

The mother-of-two continued, “Furthermore, [Shumpert] consistently fails to properly care for the minor children including but not limited to failing to feed them despite being in the Martial Residence with the minor children, smoking marijuana, and being under the influence while caring for the minor children, and placing the minor children in a rideshare in Chicago which resulted in the minor children being dropped off at the United Center in the general population while he utilized the services of a private driver."

“[Shumpert] consistently demonstrates a clear disregard for the safety of the minor children,” she added.
