LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shania Twain is celebrating Brad Pitt’s birthday in style by referring to her famous 1997 song.

As People posted an Instagram carousel to wish Pitt on his 60th birthday, the 58-year-old country crooner replied in the comment section with a lyric from her 1997 hit, ‘That Don't Impress Me Much’.

Twain took to the comment section to write cheekily, “…that don’t impress me much, but HBD.”

For the unversed, Twain’s original song from her third studio album ‘Come On Over’ contained the lyrics where she referenced the Oscar-winning actor - “Oh-oh, you think you’re special / Oh-oh, you think you’re something else / Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt / That don’t impress me much.”

Why did Shania Twain include Brad Pitt’s name in the song?

During a 2017 interview with Billboard, the songstress revealed the mystery behind including the ‘Troy’ actor’s name in her song that reached the seventh position on Billboard Hot 100 in 1997.

In the song, she sarcastically disses a narcissistic suitor’s vanity in caring too much about his looks when she sings “OK, so you’re Brad Pitt? That don’t impress me much.”

However, she candidly revealed the main reason behind name-dropping the actor.

She shared with the magazine, “I remember I had a girl friend visiting me and it was near Christmas and we were baking cookies. I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him.”

The Playgirl magazine published Pitt’s nude photos, for which he successfully sued them later.

Twain continued, “And this was like all the rage. I just thought ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’ I’m like, well that don’t impress me much, I mean what is all the fuss.”

The songstress explained, “We see people naked every day. That’s really what I thought.”

The ‘Any Man of Mine’ singer clarified she was not particularly shading Pitt as she said, “I wasn’t picking on Brad Pitt. But that was just the association in that moment and things we make fusses about and whatever. Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy.”

This is, however, not the first time that Twain wished Pitt on his birthday with a catchy phrase. In 2020, she similarly took to her social media to wish the 'Mr and Mrs Smith' actor by writing, "Happy Birthday to Brad Pitt, I’ll make an exception for today," per Daily Mail.

Did Shania Twain ever meet Brad Pitt?

Despite penning a chart-topping song with the superstar's name in it, the country singer has not yet met Brad Pitt, per Entertainment Weekly.

During an interview with journalist and comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg on her 'Chicken Shop Date' series, Twain mourned, "I wrote about Brad Pitt. I never met Brad Pitt," before adding, "I think he's avoiding me — honestly."
