Internet abuzz as Matthew Modine announces to officiate Millie Bobby Brown's wedding
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew Modine, who found immense success in his role as Dr Brenner, famously known as "Papa," in the popular Netflix series 'Stranger Things,' has recently commented on the close bond he shares with his co-star Millie Bobby Brown.
Modine also revealed that he is set to officiate Brown's wedding with her long-time fiance Jake Bongiovi.
The confession sparked a surge of people flooding social media to express their opinions.
Previously, Brown appeared to ignite a significant online uproar after admitting to being a certified 'Karen' when it comes to waiting at restaurants. The 'Damsel' actress was completely candid as she expressed frustration with drinks and meals being ordered separately at eateries.
Matthew Modine talks about officiating Millie Bobby Brown's marriage
Viewers of 'Stranger Things' are familiar with the complex dynamic between Modine and Brown depicted on-screen in the sci-fi horror series. Nevertheless, in real life, their connection blossoms into a close friendship reminiscent of longtime companions.
As mentioned by Fox News, Modine, and Brown first crossed paths when she joined and started playing Eleven in the Netflix series. Modine portrayed the role of an antagonist in the series who was revealed as a scientist working for the US Department of Energy while also heading the Hawkins National Laboratory.
As the series progressed, the viewers met with the truth that Modine's character Brenner was holding children with supernatural powers captive and running experiments on them, which has been kept under wraps for a long time.
That's how the viewers learned about the reason why Eleven carries some disdain for Modine's on-screen character.
In contrast to the characteristics of his 'Stranger Things' persona, in reality, Modine appears to admire the love story between Brown, aged 20, and her fiancé Jake Bongiovi, aged 21. The couple publicly announced their engagement on Instagram last year.
Even though Brown and Bongiovi haven't announced their wedding date yet, it was revealed recently that Brown asked Modine to officiate their wedding, as reported by Fox News.
In an interview with Fox News, Modine said, "Oh, it'll be a very emotional day. And Millie and I, I've known her since she was a little girl. She was actually 11 years old when we began working together on 'Stranger Things.'"
Modine elaborated that it was another friend of his who was getting married that inspired him to become a licensed officiant.
According to Fox News, Modine recalled, "It was a friend of mine who was getting married, and we were just talking about it, 'Who's going to get you married?' And I knew that you could get those licenses, to be able to officiate a wedding and to legally, get someone married. And he said, oh, 'I would love you to be the person who officiated my wedding.'"
"And he actually was the person who went out of his way to get all the paperwork and took me to the place where, you know, you become, I don't know what you call, an officiant, to be able to do it. So it was him, and it was his wedding was the first time that I had done it."
Reflecting on his experience as an officiant, Modine said, "And it's a wonderful thing to be able to do, to sort of, to speak on behalf of a group of people. He's really speaking for everyone… So when you say, ‘Dearly beloved, we are gathered here, in this event,’ so you're you're bringing people together to join two people in what hopefully could become a great bond, a union between two human beings. And it's a beautiful thing."
As reported by Fox News, Modine also spoke about his own marriage to his wife of four decades, Caridad Rivera, and expressed his good wishes for Brown and Bongiovi, saying, "I've had a great marriage, and so I wish that for Millie and Jake."
