WASHINGTON, DC: Following the award ceremony at the 2024 White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, April 27, the show immediately launched into a satire of Donald Trump, showing a famous 2011 clip of then-President Barack Obama mocking future presidential candidate Trump, according to Mediaite.

After that, comedian and celebrity impressionist Matt Friend, posing as Trump, teased the media and attendees with some light fake roasting, bringing up Bernie Sanders, Mitch McConnell, and even Obama, before concluding with the largely uninterested crowd.

After playing the complete Obama clip, the narrator said, "What was Donald Trump thinking? Would he recover from this? Tonight: Your answer." The scene cut to Friend portraying Trump at that point.

The comedian performed a remarkable vocal impersonation of Trump while standing in the middle of the estimated 2,600 spectators. He said while greeting the crowd, "It is really a tremendous opportunity to be at the most failed dinner anyone's ever seen. Great to see you losers," according to Entertainment Weekly.

He added, "Why is it so quiet? What's happening? It's quieter than Sleepy Joe," before cracking a series of jokes referencing current events.

Friend remarked, "This dinner is sadder than Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured President's Department, right?" adding, "Let's face it, folks. I'm on fire right now, like the guy outside the courthouse, right?"

The comedian was referring to a man who set himself on fire near the Lower Manhattan courtroom while jurors were being chosen for Trump's criminal trial and later died from his injuries.

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Internet chides as a clip of Barack Obama roasting Donald Trump in 2011 is played at the White House Correspondents' dinner

One wrote, "Oh my gawdโ€ฆI forgot how great this was! And reminds me how much I miss President Obama. Fantastic!"

Another noted, "Trump was seething - it was absolutely a thing of beauty to behold," whereas a person mentioned, "That burn still stings. Obama was just so damned good at everything."

"Sooo funny! I could watch this a dozen times and still laugh," expressed someone else and one more added, "He was seething with hate as everyone was laughing because they were laughing at him. I believe it was at that moment that he decided to run seriously for president. Boy, he sure got even! He can not be allowed anywhere near the oval office ever again."

An individual declared, "And Trump still harbors that grudge to this day."
