LONDON, ENGLAND: Johnny Depp received support from fans after he showcased his yellowing set of teeth during the UK premiere of his French film ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ on Monday, April 15.

During the premiere, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star was seen smiling warmly while revealing his stained teeth, to the chagrin of many.

While the curious feature managed to capture the notice of the trolls during the French film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival almost a year ago, the 60-year-old American star’s fans are defending the actor’s dental condition.

The star, who was locked in a lengthy defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard for the better part of 2022, is making a grand comeback to acting with his role in ‘Jeanne Du Barry’. Last year, as his film participated in a competition at the film festival, he received a standing ovation for seven minutes.

Johnny Depp once talked about his poor dental health

While his current outing managed to capture the notice of quite a few trolls, his fans made sure to defend the star’s nicotine-stained teeth.

However, last year, during the Cannes Film Festival, the ‘The Tourist’ actor was severely trolled for his dental hygiene.

During the same time, Page Six also unearthed an old interview of Depp with Premiere magazine from 1995, where he admitted that he had “loads of cavities," per Daily Mail.

In the 1995 article, the ‘Sleepy Hollow’ star admitted, “I’ve got loads of cavities. I had a root canal done eight years ago that’s unfinished. It’s like a rotten little stub.”

He continued, “But I like it. It’s like when the Indians would make something beaded, they would always put imperfections on it.”

Referring to his uneven bottom teeth, the star declared, “I’m proud of these.”

The ‘Public Enemies’ actor continued, “When I see people with perfect teeth, it drives me up the wall. I’d rather swallow a tick than have that!”

Nevertheless, the interviewer then admitted that despite the poor condition of his dental set, the actor did not have foul-smelling breath.

Moreover, the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star has remained true to his words and did not indulge in expensive veneers and teeth-whitening mechanisms. Instead, he has embraced his natural teeth with all its imperfections.

Fans react to Johnny Depp's yellowing teeth

Despite the criticism from a few trolls, Johnny Depp's fans defended the actor calling his smile the "Captain Sparrow Smile."

One of the fans said on Facebook, "And he has all of his original body parts he’s not fake like most of he fellow actors."

Someone else defended him saying, "He could sure get them fixed if he wanted to!"

Another fan quipped, "That's a "Jack Sparrow" smile!"

Someone warned the trolls, saying, "Hell let him smile in peace,at least he cracks a smile."

"He’s a great actor. Admittedly he does always look like he needs a shower to me. My opinion before the trolls start on me," shared a social media user.

Another fan declared, "Who cares he still a amazing man."

"That’s a Captain Sparrow Smile! 😂," quipped yet another netizen.

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in, "Growing old gracefully and naturally."

A fan remarked with conviction, "Would rather see natural teeth than blinding turkey teeth."

"A true pirate," joked a fan.

However, someone else added as a word of caution, "Don’t worry too much. People will judge you if you have good teeth and they’ll judge you if u have bad teeth."

"Called ageing and smoking. If only he had the money to fix it.. let's pray," said another.

Nevertheless, another person said, "He must have awful breath! With all that money and doesn’t take care of his teeth, he must have awful hygiene."
