'That's my name!': Emma Stone blushes on hearing her real name 'Emily' during Cannes Film Festival
CANNES, FRANCE: Emma Stone was blushing after she was called by her birth name during the Cannes Film Festival.
The ‘Poor Things’ star was with her director Yorgos Lanthimos, when a reporter called her, “Emily!”
The 35-year-old beamed at him and told Lanthimos, "That's my name!" per People.
Emma Stone prefers her birthname 'Emily'
In her previous interview, Stone shared the story behind changing her birth name due to professional reasons as another actress was going by the name Emily Stone.
The Hollywood Reporter asked if others call her by her real name in the industry, Stone said, "When I get to know them, people that I work with do."
"It’s just because my name was taken [by another actress in SAG]. Then I freaked out a couple of years ago," she added. "For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me 'Emily.’”
“That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily,” Stone said, though she mentioned that she doesn't mind either of the names.
Emma Stone was promoting her upcoming flick ‘Kind of Kindness,’ which is her fifth venture with Lanthimos.
The movie also features Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn, Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Hunter Schafer, and Hong Chau, and will be out on June 21.
Lantihimos and Stone will start working on the ‘Bugonia’ soon.
“I feel like I can do anything with him, because we've worked together so many times. I trust him beyond the trust I've ever had with any director,” Stone said about the director.
“... We just have something that I can't explain, and I'm so grateful for it," she added.
Emma Stone calls Yorgos Lanthimos her 'muse'
The ‘Cruella’ star further reflected on her bond with the director, “I think he's my muse. We've established that long ago.”
“I met him about 10 years ago ... We had such a great time working together on The Favourite, and I'm drawn to his stories. I'm drawn to his films. I'm drawn to his way of seeing the world and the characters and the way he goes about all of it,” Stone explained.
“So it's just been mad. I think we both feel that way. We do. We have similar taste too — who knew," she told the outlet.
