LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Simone Biles feels her wedding was a more memorable moment than a gold-medal finish at the Olympics.

Talking with Vanity Fair, the 26-year-old gymnast talked about her wedding to NFL star Jonathan Owens. The pair got married in April 2023 and enjoyed it more than bagging four gold medals in the 2016 event.

“I’ve never had so much fun in my life. I was 19 when I won my first Olympics, and I was like, 'How am I supposed to top this?' My wedding topped it," reminisced Biles.

"It was the greatest feeling ever," she added.

The wedding ceremony was an exclusive one!

The pair kept their wedding private, as only a few people were invited to their wedding ceremony.

"We could have had so many more people,” Biles explained. "But we really wanted to make it as intimate and as special as possible.”

She explained, “I was like, ‘Not to knock your football coach from third grade, but baby, when was the last time you talked to him?’” Biles recalled saying this to Owens.

They became engaged on Valentine's Day in 2022 and initially tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Houston. Later, they opted for a destination wedding in May, choosing Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as the picturesque backdrop for their celebration.

The celebration spanned an entire weekend, and Biles adorned herself in four distinct Galia Lahav gowns to commemorate this special occasion.

The couple met over a dating app!

Regrettably, Biles couldn't enjoy an extended period with Owens, as he promptly had to return to his squad in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Reflecting on this, she shared, "I cried a lot," expressing the challenges of adjusting to the reality of their long-distance marriage.

“We’re both so busy, so it’s not like I’m sitting [around] waiting for him to come home, but it’s just hard," she further said.

The couple crossed paths on the dating app Raya shortly after Biles' recent breakup. Reflecting on their initial interaction, she recalled, "My guard went straight up when she mentioned the dating site."

“The second week I met him in person, and the rest is history," Biles said. "We were hooked."

Owens chimed in, saying, "It was just contagious. We could talk all day, stay up late, and there just wasn't an awkward moment." Their connection seemed to flow effortlessly, creating a comfortable and engaging dynamic.
