'The View' hosts explain 'the jingle' while presenting Whoopi Goldberg with 'Exorcist' doll for Christmas
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The co-hosts of 'The View' introduced a fun holiday custom called "the jingle" during the December 15 episode, as they surprised Whoopi Goldberg at the Hot Topics table.
Goldberg stepped up on the stage to take her spot when she discovered that the section of the table had been "jingled" by her co-hosts.
They left the 'Ghost' actress and horror aficionado a collection of early Christmas presents which included candies, holiday decorations, and an 'Exorcist' action figure, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Sara Haines explains 'the jingle' to Whoopi Goldberg
Though she was visibly confused by the festive setup in her corner of the table, Goldberg first welcomed everyone to the broadcast before addressing the issue.
"What the hell is all this?" she asked, to which co-host Haines replied, "You got jingled!"
She went on to explain that it is part of an ongoing office tradition started by Molly Kessler.
"What you do is you spread a little festive spirit — some gifts, some candy — and then you pass the jingle on. So I was the first host to be jingled..." continued Haines.
Goldberg proceeded to hold up a possessed glow-in-the-dark Regan doll from her gifts, to which Haines quipped, “And it kind of matches your vibe.”
Ana Navarro shares how Joy Behar 'jingled' her
As Haines was done explaining what “the jingle” is, Ana Navarro added, “Joy [Behar] jingled me—” and Sunny Hostin interjected, “because I had jingled Joy.”
Navarro then continued, “She (Behar) filled up my dressing room with pictures of Gerry, the guy from 'The Golden Bachelor', because I don’t watch the show, and then she had these two Christmas ornaments that were so foul they had to be blurred,” stated Navarro. An image of naked cartoon versions of Santa and Mrs Claus was brought up on the screen at the time.
"And she put this on my door," continued Navarro, bringing out a large gold necklace bearing the words 'Ho Ho Ho.' She initially believed it to be “a Christmas decoration, but Sara says it is a name tag.”
"It's such a fun tradition," said Sunny Hostin, as the staff and the stars all participate together. She revealed that she had gifted Behar a Black Santa as a part of her jingle, with which the latter is apparently "obsessed." The co-hosts then continued to discuss who they got jingled by and who they passed it on to.
