NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' hosts on Monday, January 5, took jabs at President Donald Trump's operation in which United States forces invaded, captured, and jailed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, calling it "100 percent illegal".

The show's co-host, Sunny Hostin, said, "It's not legal because it violates international law, right? I've never seen it before," and called it a "kidnapping and capture" after Maduro was transported to New York City to be arraigned.

Sunny Hostin says Trump is doing 'whatever he wants'

Sunny Hostin added, "International law doesn't allow it unless Congress declares war, and Congress did not do that. This country was founded on the balance of power. You have checks and balances, coequal branches of power."

She later said, "This president is doing whatever the heck he wants, without any checks or balances. And I have never in my lifetime seen this type of regime change, which is what we just saw, work out well for the United States. It just doesn't work, and in my view, this is completely, 100 percent illegal."

Meanwhile, co-host Ana Navarro, who earlier praised the removal of Maduro, said that she doesn't "think this is at all about the Venezuelan people," because, as per her, "Donald Trump doesn't give a damn about the Venezuelan people" and only operates in his own best interests.

"I don't think Donald Trump gives a damn about dr**s. If he did, he would not have pardoned the former president of Honduras, who was serving 45 years in federal prison. I think this is a lot about Donald Trump's ego," she said.

However, Navarro praised Maduro's capture as marking a "happy day" for Venezuelans living under his rule. "It brought me to tears, it brought me great joy," she added, before Hostin asked, "But are you okay with the way that it was done?"

"I think both things can be true. I think you can criticize and ask questions and have concerns about the way it was done and what this means in the future, and I think you can still celebrate that this murderous, corrupt, sadistic son of a b***h is out of Venezuela," Navarro expressed.

DNC launches fundraiser targeting Trump over Maduro's capture

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) launched a fundraising campaign in response to recent actions by the Trump administration involving the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

In its appeal, the DNC argued that the US government has overstepped constitutional authority and warned of prolonged American involvement in South America. Maduro and his wife were captured by US forces during an operation carried out in Venezuela on Saturday.

The campaign, sent via email to supporters, read, "Another day, another unconstitutional war from Trump, who thinks the Constitution is a suggestion," as per Townhall.

According to the email, the committee claims Trump’s decision to authorize the arrest sidestepped Congress’s war powers, framing the incident as an "unauthorized attack against Venezuela."

Moreover, the email characterized the arrest as an overreach of congressional authority and called on donors to back Democratic candidates as a means of checking the administration’s actions.
