NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sunny Hostin has candidly discussed her experience with the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, which helped her shed 40 pounds gained during the Covid-19 pandemic.

On a past episode of 'The View', the 56-year-old television personality admitted to feeling 'shame' over her weight gain and turned to the diabetes medication to aid her weight loss journey.

Previously, Hostin shared, “All I did was eat... I love to cook, and I found out, I love to eat.”

“And I was horrified about the fact that I would have to come out on air. So I also took Mounjaro,” she added.

Unlike many individuals who experience increased hunger and weight regain after stopping GLP-1 drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic, Hostin revealed in an interview with Daily Mail that she has maintained her slimmer figure without difficulty.

“I feel really great,” she said while attending 'Othello's opening night on Broadway on March 23.

“I don’t know what everyone else’s experience with it is, but I never gained any weight back,” she added.

Studies have shown that many users regain a significant portion of their lost weight after discontinuing these drugs.

However, Hostin stated she has not faced abnormal cravings and continues her usual diet and workout routine.

“I was never a big eater, so I just sort of eat to live. I don’t live to eat,” she explained, adding, “I never stopped working out.”

Sunny Hostin reflects on whether she would use Mounjaro again

Sunny Hostin, who only took the medication for four months, acknowledged that her experience differs from the norm.

When asked if she would ever consider using Mounjaro again, she responded, “If I needed to, sure. Why not?”

Hostin believes some celebrities hesitate to discuss their use of weight-loss drugs.

“I think that’s unfortunate. Why? I don’t know. I think it’s kind of, to date, a free world,” she said, adding, “So if that’s what you want to do, then just do it.”

She further emphasized that these medications are about personal choice and body positivity.

“Whatever makes you feel good, just do it,” she shared.

Whoopi Goldberg defends Mounjaro use

Sunny Hostin's 'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg has also been open about her weight-loss journey using Mounjaro.

In a December 2024 episode, Goldberg pushed back against politician Robert F Kennedy Jr's claims that diet and exercise alone should be sufficient for weight loss.

“This isn’t just about food. Sometimes people are born genetically larger,” she said, revealing she had lost nearly 300 pounds with the help of the drug.

“And without the Mounjaro, this would not have happened,” she added.

Goldberg argued that GLP-1 drugs could provide life-changing benefits for those struggling with obesity-related health issues.

“If we can get rid of diabetes, if we can get rid of all the things—cardiovascular disease—what’s wrong with trying to do that?” she noted.
