'The View' co-hosts slammed as they laud Michelle Obama for skipping Trump’s inauguration: 'Den of hate'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar lauded former first lady Michelle Obama's decision to skip President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, January 20.
Notably, a spokesperson for the former first lady told People Magazine on Tuesday, January 14 that Obama would not be attending the inauguration ceremony.
Michelle Obama may have skipped Jimmy Carter's funeral to stay on vacation, but The View's Sunny Hostin hypes her not going to the inauguration, "I think she's changed her tune. When they go low you have to meet that energy and perhaps even go lower" (1/2) pic.twitter.com/4s70Bpfps2

'The View' co-hosts gush over Michelle Obama's move to skip Trump's inauguration
Sunny Hostin praised Michelle Obama's move and argued that it’s only right for the former first lady to get her digs in on Trump, according to Fox News.
She told her co-hosts on Friday, January 17, "I think when they go low, you have to meet that energy and perhaps go even lower, become small like an ant and go to the earth’s crust," and added a new spin on Obama’s famous quote, "When they go low, we go high."
Notably, when Behar opened the show and announced Obama’s non-attendance, asking her co-hosts if it was the right move, Hostin said, "Yes, Lord, she is so right. She is so right."
Interestingly, Hostin played a clip of Obama at 2024 DNC, where she slammed Trump for doing "everything in his power to try and make people fear" her and her husband, per the outlet.
Hostin added, "And I think when you see that, you understand why she wouldn’t go."
Moreover, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin mentioned that she’s fine if Michelle Obama doesn’t attend the inauguration because she’s not a government figure.
She added that Rep Nancy Pelosi shouldn’t skip, as she’s still a "leader among Democrats" and it’s about showing that "the country is still going to move forward."
Furthermore, co-host Sara Haines sided with Griffin, and added that Democratic leaders at least should be at the event to set a good example and be above political games.
Co-host Ana Navarro said that Pelosi could be afforded an exemption from attending considering her age and that she recently ended up with an injured hip.
Kid Rock takes jibe at Michelle Obama for skipping Trump’s inauguration
During a recent appearance on 'Jesse Watters Primetime', musician Kid Rock took a jibe at Michelle Obama for her choice not to attend Trump's inauguration, saying she "seems a little angry".
Kid described it as less about tradition and more about attitude. He said during the interview, "I would kindly remind her that years back when [Barack] Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him, but they asked me to play the inauguration, and I played it and I went."
He added that he had a great time performing at the event, even though he didn’t share the same political views as the Obamas, per Fox News.
He said, "So I would kindly remind Miss Michelle about that", noting that he believed her attendance at Trump’s inauguration would show respect for the presidency.
Internet slams 'The View' co-hosts for lauding Michelle Obama's decision
Several internet users slammed 'The View' co-hosts as they lauded Michelle Obama's decision to skip Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Some online comments read "Do you think that Joy Behar has any idea how little her opinion matters to most people?" and "I think they feel that every time someone boycotts anyone they don’t like gives them a reason to feel better that they’re not the only ones who are being ignored."
A person also stated, "Don't worry sunny. You've all gone as low as you can get", whereas one mentioned, "Perhaps Sunny should be serviced with a 10 to 20 year IRS tax audit. She needs something real to be enraged about."
A user also wrote, "A good description of The View is The Den of Hate", while one commented, "They have been low for a long, long time!"
