NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa) surprised the hosts of 'The View' when he described his recent meeting with President Donald Trump positively on the Monday, January 27, episode of the daytime talk show.

According to The Hill, Fetterman met Trump at his residence of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump, who successfully ran for the White House in 2024 as the GOP nominee, praised the Democratic politician after the meeting, saying, "He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful."

The open-minded approach of Fetterman to Trump and MAGA Republicans on Capitol Hill reportedly caused concern among Democrats, but they were soon dismissed by the senator himself. In an interview with Semafor, Fetterman rebuked talks about switching parties as "amateur-hour s**t."

On the Monday episode of 'The View', Jon Fetterman responded to host Alyssa Farah Griffin's inquiry about his meeting with President Trump, "I think, overall, it was a positive experience," he replied.

"I mean, he (Trump) was kind, he was cordial," Fetterman explained, before adding, "It wasn’t in any kind of theater. It wasn’t trying to get your picture taken to kind of put something out on social media. It was just, really, a conversation. We actually spoke for over an hour."

Fetterman noted that as a public representative, it was his job to try and work with the president of the United States, noting, "I think it’s pretty reasonable to have a conversation."

“There’s things I’m going to agree with, I’m going to disagree with, but I’m in the business of finding wins for Pennsylvania and for the nation and engaging the president,” he added.

Conservatives hail Jon Fetterman and bash 'The View' hosts after Senator's take on Donald Trump

Reacting to Jon Fetterman's positive statement about Donald Trump on X (formerly Twitter), the President's supporter's appreciated the Democrat for having a "rational" approach to his job and blasted 'The View' hosts who are usually critical of the leader.

"The most common sense democrat today, is John Fetterman," wrote a social media user.

"This man has an emotionless rational approach to his job. I respect that. Too many Dems work too hard to manipulate people into believing as they do. Seeing a Dem lawmaker be so base and real should be an example for all," shared another.

"He took you ladies to school. And the look on your face is were priceless. Common sense prevails The View is the spew," one person said while slamming 'The View' hosts.

"He just made the view ladies very angry," remarked another.

"Those women didn't know what to do with a smart rational man who refuses to drink the KoolAid and makes up his own mind," one individual posted.

However, not everyone was pleased with Fetterman's response, as one individual noted, "This is the end of Fetterman’s career as a Democrat."
