'The whole upstairs burnt down': Fire destroys Tyreek Hill's house, costing him $2.3 million in damages
BROWARD COUNY, FLORIDA: Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a terrible last week. The NFL star’s $6.9 million mansion was destroyed by a massive fire, costing him $2.3 million in damages.
The 29-year-old was at practice when the unfortunate event took place. His reaction was captured by HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ series later.
“It’s done. The house done, bro,” Hill told his Dolphins teammates, adding “Smoke damage, fire damage. The whole upstairs is burnt down. It’s alright, though.”
The fire at Tyreek Hill's home caused $2.3 million in damages
The two-alarm fire at Hill’s Southwest Ranches, Florida, home allegedly caused $2.3 million in damages, as per TMZ.
Luckily no injuries were reported due to the fire and everyone inside the home at the time was safe.
Davie Fire Rescue Department officials told People that the cause of the fire was determined, and was apparently caused by a child playing with a lighter.
“No one was injured number 1, no pets, so for that, we’re very grateful,” his agent Rosenhaus said.
“We’re very grateful to the firefighters that put the fire out. Thankfully, the fire was contained to a limited area of the home. Obviously, there’ll be some smoke and water damage. It’s very difficult for anybody obviously to have your home catch on fire, but Tyreek was handling it, he and his family, with as much poise as you could hope," he added.

His teammate's reactions were also captured. “I called him a couple of times but he wasn't he wasn't answering,” quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told a coach during a team meeting.
“I'm sure a lot of people have called him as well. So, I just sent him a text but he didn't text back,” he added.
Later, during a press conference, Tagovailoa told the media, “I think the main thing is his family is safe, his loved ones are good and he’s good as well.”
“I know it’s a little cliche to say, but those things like that, you know, part of the house, some of those things can be replaceable but I’m just glad a lot of his family members are safe,” he added.
