'The Witcher' fans disheartened as Season 5 finale confirmed, Liam Hemsworth to replace Henry Cavill
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix just dropped a bombshell on social media by revealing that 'The Witcher' will be getting a fifth season, but it'll also be the conclusion of the saga.
The news has set off a storm among fans, especially with the announcement that Liam Hemsworth will be stepping into Henry Cavill's shoes as the lead in the upcoming fourth season.
Die-hard followers of 'The Witcher' books and games are not satisfied with what the series has in store for them. They're firing shots at the creators, accusing them of straying too far from the source material and showing Cavill the exit door.
'The Witcher' renewed for season 5
Variety broke the news on Thursday stating that 'The Witcher' is gearing up for its fifth and final season, as confirmed by Netflix. They also asserted season four is already in the works and will be shot simultaneously with the fifth.
Hemsworth steps into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia for the first time in season four, taking over from Cavill. Cavill wrapped up his stint after the third season, which aired in two parts during the summer of 2023, as announced by Netflix in October 2022.
To tease fans, Netflix dropped a behind-the-scenes video from the season four table read. Hemsworth was front and center, joined by the stellar cast, including Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, Cassie Clare, and Mahesh Jadu.
'The Witcher' official account wrote in a post on X, "It's official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that's not all, we're already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent."
