'There’s always more': Mariska Hargitay raves about her 'deep and soulful' husband Peter Hermann

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mariska Hargitay is head over heels for her husband of nearly two decades, Peter Hermann.

The 'Law & Order' star revealed the secret to their lasting marriage is their constant connection.

“Peter is such a deep and soulful human,” she gushed to E! News at the Law & Order 25th anniversary celebration on January 16.

“I just love getting to know him on a deeper level. And so there’s always more.”

How Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann met and fell in love

The couple’s love story began on the set of the popular crime drama in 2001, when Hermann played defense lawyer Trevor for the first time.

They dated for three years before tying the knot in Santa Barbara, California, in 2004.

Hargitay recalled to People in 2019 that she knew Hermann was the one when they attended a church service together.

“We went to church together, and it was like getting hit with a lightning bolt,” she said. “I just started sobbing."

"Peter thought I was crying because I was so moved by the service. No, it was because I was just overwhelmed, realizing he was the one.”

Hargitay and Hermann expanded their family with three children: son August Miklos Friedrich, born in 2006, and daughter Amaya and son Andrew, adopted in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

“Nobody wanted to be pregnant more than me,” Hargitay told SELF magazine in 2007.

“From the minute I found out, I was wearing full-on maternity pants. My stomach was totally flat, mind you, but I was just so excited.”

She also shared with to People how she felt about the “divine architecture” of their family. “I think there is such beauty in how this family was built,” she said.

Hargitay and Hermann have been sharing their love with the world through social media and public appearances.

In August 2023, Hargitay posted a photo of them dancing at their wedding on Instagram, with the caption, “19 years. Best dance of my life. Only dance of my life.”

In January 2024, the couple enjoyed a safari vacation, where Hargitay praised her husband’s photography skills.

She shared a black and white photo of him on Instagram, writing, “My favorite photographer.”
