'There's no better option': Internet overjoyed after poll reveals Idris Elba as top choice for next James Bond

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: James Bond fans are getting more vocal about who they want to see in the iconic role after Daniel Craig's stint in the role comes to an end.

While admirers quoted A-list contenders for the lead role, Idris Elba seems to be a favorite.

A study of 2,000 people commissioned by Lottoland revealed Elba to be a top choice for the role of James Bond. The other stars who followed the 51-year-old actor included Tom Hardy and Henry Cavill.

James Norton, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren, and Emilia Clarke, were also named in the Top 20 choices, as per The Sun.

Having said that the fans' wish may not be fulfilled as in the past Elba has refuted such claims, once saying, "You know, a lot of people talk about another character that begins with J and ends with B, but I'm not going to be that guy. I'm going to be John Luther. That's who I am," while talking about his film 'Luther: The Fallen Sun'. 

In 2022, an insider told The Sun, "Fans and Barbara wanted Idris but he wants to create something for himself. However, he's put forward names to play 007. He's 'informally' in the decision-making process as he's been in talks with producers for so long." 

This came after James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli hinted that Elba might be the next 007.

Meanwhile, as per The Express, Elba once noted, "I'm probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I haven't even played the role."

"Enough is enough. I can't talk about it anymore," asserted the 'Luther' star.

"All this talk of the new 007. I wasn't a big fan of Daniel Craig. But I'd be game for Idris Elba. I know people are talking Henry Cavill, but he's already Superman & The Witcher. But I wouldn't be mad at him. I'm biased🤷‍♀️ What do you think? Who do you want as the next James Bond?" wrote an X (formerly Twitter) user. 

Another netizen remarked, "Idris Elba as James Bond would’ve been so darn cool man. These fans who want characters to be one race only no matter what are a bunch of disgraces. Just look at Idris Elba man, just look at him."

"Big fan of Idris Elba he is very good actor but i don't want him as james bond," declared a person, while someone else echoed, "As a @007 fan I feel there’s no better option to be next James Bond than Idris Elba. It’s what everybody wants."
