'They didn’t care': Denise Richards reveals her daughters had no interest in her career until they saw her in ‘Friends’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Denise Richards, 53, shared a surprising revelation about her daughters.

The actress said her children were not impressed by her career until they discovered she was in 'Friends.'

The actress played Cassie Geller, the cousin of Ross and Monica, in the seventh season of the hit sitcom.

She appeared on the episode 'The One with Ross and Monica’s Cousin' where she caught the eye of both Ross and Chandler.

Richards said on 'Live with Kelly and Mark' on March 5, that her daughters Sami, 19, Lola, 18, and Eloise, 12, were unaware of her role in 'Friends' until they saw her on a TikTok video.

Co-host Mark Consuelos, 52, who also guest starred in 'Friends', asked her if her children thought it was cool. "Because I was on an episode and my kids think it was the [coolest]," Mark said.

She added, “They’re like, ‘When did you do that?’ I’m like, ‘Before you were born!’”

Richards said, “Right and it’s so funny because my kids had no interest in knowing anything [about my career], they didn’t care."

She added, "But I think they saw me on a TikTok with the hair thing and they were like [excited], ‘You were on Friends!?’ I was like, ‘Yeah!’”

Co-host Kelly Ripa, 53, joked that Richards suddenly had a full career in her kids’ eyes. “Yes exactly!” Richards agreed.

The actress shares two daughters, Lola and Sami, with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. She also adopted a daughter, Eloise, in 2011 as a single mother.

Richards said being a mother is her number 1 priority and her biggest pride.

“I’m most proud of raising my kids, especially in a time that is very different from how I was raised,” she told Peope in 2019.

"It’s extremely hard to keep children grounded. This is not an easy time to grow up," she added.

In November 2023, Richards attended the 91st Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade with her husband Aaron Phypers, 51, and her daughter Eloise.

It was a rare public appearance for the family, who supported the Marine Toys for Tots charity.

Richards, at the time, also revealed that her daughter Eloise, 12, has a chromosomal disorder that affects her development.

She said Eloise was diagnosed with a deletion in chromosome eight, which causes delays in her speech and motor skills.

“She wasn’t able to sit up on her own for a very long time, and she didn’t start walking until she was two, and that was with physical therapy,” Richards said.

“She can only say a handful of words. And there are times when she feels like her age in understanding, and then other times where it feels she’s emotionally three years old," she said.

She further said, "It’s been challenging. I’m learning every day because they don’t really have a road map for her particular case.”

Richards said she loves her daughter unconditionally and wants the best for her.

“Every child is different,” she said, adding “You take care of your children no matter what is going on with them."

She continued, "I don’t know if [Eloise] is ever going to talk like a typical child. But as a parent, you want what’s best for your children, and you just do it.”
