'They had to glue his head shut': Emily Blunt on how her thoughtful gift seriously injured Cillian Murphy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Emily Blunt’s “fantastic” gift for her co-star Cillian Murphy reportedly proved quite dangerous for him.
The 40-year-old actress and Murphy played husband and wife in ‘Oppenheimer’. Blunt gave her co-star a pillow, thinking it would help him sleep better, The Sun reported.
However, the pillow landed him in trouble.
Cillian Murphy got injured because of a pillow
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress shared, “He’s going to kill me for telling this story. I was very concerned about Cillian’s sleep when we started shooting because I felt he had a monumental undertaking with this role.”
She continued, “I thought, like, that’s a good start-of-shoot gift."
“He told me he woke up in the middle of the night and he was so thrilled to fluff himself back to sleep on the pillow, that he sort of threw his head down back onto it and smashed his head open on the bedside table,” Blunt said.

The mother-of-two went on to reveal another story from the Oscar-nominated film's set, which included her slapping Murphy’s face several times.
However, the scene was later edited out from the movie.

“And Cillian was like, ‘Do it, do it’. Chris was like, ‘He’ll be fine . . . do it’. I slapped him then I grabbed him, by the neck really, by the collar,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Blunt and Murphy will soon grace the carpet of the Academy Awards in March as they have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor respectively for 'Oppenheimer’.
The 47-year-old reportedly said of his work, "It’s like you’re on this f***ing train that’s just bombing. It’s bang, bang, bang, bang. You sleep for a few hours, get up, bang it again."
"I was running on crazy energy; I went over a threshold to where I was not worrying about food or anything. I was so in it, a state of hyper...something. But it was good because the character was like that. He never ate," Murphy added.
