LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Despite being on the verge of divorce a few years ago, Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder are doing great in their marriage.

Following their marriage, the couple—parents to son Harry and twins Hazel and Phinnaeus—did not have an exceptionally good relationship.

The couple, who were married in 2002, were able to work things out, despite a source claiming they were "close" to calling it quits, as per OK! Magazine.

Earlier this month, the 'Pretty Woman' actress revealed the key to her enduring partnership with her husband, on 'The View'.

Roberts said, "Two sinks is important. I think marrying the right person is important, I think lots of kissing hello and goodbye is really, I think, a critical detail to daily life."

The insider added, "A lot of it was Julia calming down and realizing she needed to stop trying to control everything, which is her nature. Even though Danny is so mellow, it was affecting him."

One of the alleged points of dispute was that they currently reside in Los Angeles instead of San Francisco, which the 56-year-old actress prefers.

The insider added, "Some things are more important. Family comes first. She’s still passionate and he’s still chill, but their personalities complement each other now."

However, a source exclusively told Closer that the parents of 16-year-old Harry and the 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus have resolved their issues and are now looking forward to being empty nesters.

"They’ve been through so much to find solid ground, but they’re closer than they ever were," the source added.

While visiting 'CBS Mornings' to promote her new Netflix film, 'Leave the World Behind', Roberts flashed her trademark dazzling smile in response to Gayle King bringing up her 21-year marriage to Daniel.

Given the recent ups and downs for the 56-year-old Oscar winner and the 54-year-old cinematographer, it was an especially poignant moment.

Roberts was brimming with gratitude for her husband. "He’s so smart and kind and dynamic in the way he looks at the world and admires people, and he’s just so strong and loving," she said, referring to Daniel as "my person" and "my favorite human."

Earlier tensions that brewed between Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder

The couple reportedly got acquainted while filming 'The Mexican' in 2001. Roberts was previously married to country singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett and the couple split amicably in March 1995. Roberts and Moder got married on July 4, 2002, after Moder's divorce was settled in early 2002.

The Oscar winner would occasionally provide glimpses inside what appeared to be a blissfully content marriage. In 2017, she remarked, I mean, every day my husband walks in the door, it’s like a recurring dream. I’m like, ‘Ah, he’s back!’"

However, they have been at odds over housing and careers in recent years. Moder wanted to live closer to Los Angeles so he could pursue his career but Roberts was happy in their $8.3 million San Francisco property.

The source claimed, "They came close to breaking up. But as a child of divorce, she didn’t want to put her own kids through that hell," as per Closer.

According to the source, they have now mastered mutual accommodation. The family moved permanently to Los Angeles in the fall after she eventually gave up and sold their ideal property for $11.3 million.
