WASHINGTON, DC:  Sports analyst Stephen A Smith expressed his belief that former First Lady Michelle Obama would “hands down” defeat former President Donald Trump if she ran for the White House in the 2024 election.

Smith made these remarks during an appearance on former NBA player Kevin Garnett’s podcast, ‘KG Certified', in response to a question about the potential for a future female President of the United States, per The Hill.

What did Stephen A Smith say on Kevin Garnett’s ‘KG Certified’ podcast?

Smith shared with Garnett that he thinks America "would've had a female president in 2016" and that Hillary Clinton "was that close" if the former Secretary of State's presidential campaign hadn't been marred by the email controversy.

“And I think that Michelle Obama would win right now if she were to run. I think that Michelle Obama would hands down be the next president of the United States if she were to run against Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee,” Smith declared. “Now, that obviously is not gonna happen. She doesn’t seem to have an interest.”

Michelle Obama has thrown her support behind President Joe Biden's re-election campaign and put an end to rumors about her launching a surprise presidential bid.

Crystal Carson, the director of communication for the former FLOTUS’s office said in a statement in March, “As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president.”

Stephen A. Smith’s recent assertion arises amidst a growing number of Republicans entertaining the unfounded notion that Michelle Obama could potentially substitute Joe Biden on the upcoming ballot.

An opinion poll conducted in February revealed that she was the preferred choice among Democrats to replace Biden on the 2024 ticket.

Despite garnering support from voters, Obama has explicitly stated that there is “zero chance” of her running for the Oval Office.

Smith's remarks come in the wake of speculation about his potential candidacy for the presidency; however, he has expressed doubt that the American electorate would ever support him, if that was ever to be the case.
