WASHINGTON, DC: The Joe Biden administration is reportedly moving forward with a plan to send weapons worth $1 billion to Israel, reported Fox News.

This comes after the White House paused a shipment last week, citing concerns over their Middle Eastern ally's planned use of those weapons in a ground invasion of the city of Rafah.

Israel considers the city to be the last stronghold of Hamas and is unwilling to pay heed to the warning of the US and other allies that a military operation will be devastating for civilians.

Since Israel began its assault on Gaza, more than 1.5 million displaced Palestinians have taken refuge in the city, as per Al Jazeera.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated on Monday, May 13, that the US had withheld a shipment of 2,000-pound bombs because "we do not believe they should be dropped in densely populated areas."

What are the weapons being supplied in the new package?

The planned weapons package for Israel is said to include $700 million in tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles, and $60 million in mortar rounds, according to the Wall Street Journal.

White House national security communications advisor John Kirby has reaffirmed the federal administration's commitment to their ally, saying that the POTUS "will continue to ensure that Israel has all of the military means it needs to defend itself against all of its enemies, including Hamas."

"For (President Biden), this is very straightforward: He’s going to continue to provide Israel with all capabilities it needs, but he does not want certain categories of American weapons used in a particular type of operation in a particular place. And again, he has been clear and consistent with that," he added.

"He finally finished weighing the consequences of his poor choices," wrote one person while responding to the news on X.

"He must be reading the polls, or having someone read them to him," shared another.

"Great more money to fund war," jibed a third.

"So easy when you can just print money. Shameful," commented a fourth.

"Well, after all, there are still Palestinians alive; and there's at least one building still standing," stated a fifth sarcastically.
