Internet shocked as driver dies after crashing car into Texas hospital ER room leaving 5 people injured
AUSTIN, TEXAS: A car struck the emergency room of a Texas hospital on Tuesday, February 13, killing the driver and seriously injuring five others, including a young child.
Austin Fire Department officials said that the car crashed into the St David's North Austin Medical Center emergency room lobby just after 5.30 pm. Authorities said the driver died in the emergency room after being extracted from the vehicle and given CPR.
Eight patients transferred to other locations after car crash
Images displayed a silver sedan completely parked inside the lobby, its front end mangled. Although the cause of the crash was still being investigated, the Austin Police Department stated that it seemed to be inadvertent.

There were five injured people in the ER lobby. According to officials, two adults and two children were transferred to other hospitals, while one patient received treatment at the hospital.
According to Captain Christa Stedman of Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, of those transported, two victims had non-life-threatening injuries, one child had critical life-threatening injuries, and one adult had "serious, potentially life-threatening injuries."
According to the Associated Press, Chief medical officer Dr Peter DeYoung announced that eight patients who were already receiving care at the hospital were being transferred to other locations.
DeYoung reported that while the aquarium within had been hit and the ER doors had sustained damage, the building itself was largely undamaged.
No ambulances were being accepted although the ER was still taking walk-ins who would be treated at a makeshift triage area at the ambulance bay, he added.
“We're hoping to kind of regroup here over the night and see where tomorrow leaves us,” DeYoung said. The emergency room at St David's North Austin Medical Center is open around-the-clock.
According to its website, it is a 441-bed acute care hospital that offers a wide range of women's health services, including robotic surgery, heart and brain surgeries, and maternity and newborn care.
